Hi everyone! Exciting news at into the Woods Pet Sitting LLC!

We have officially adopted 2 barn cats. We have a lot of land. A lot of critters... and needed some serious help. Did you know that Harbor Humane Society has a "working cat program?"

Not every cat has been socialized to people. Not every cat wants to live inside. That's where the working cat program comes into play. These cats are free to adopt, spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, already dosed for this months flea/tick prevention, and microchipped!

We selected two 5 year old ladies named Paloma (all black), and Pangi (calico) and are realistic in the fact that even though we are feeding them and giving them fresh water, and a litter box for now, we will probably not see much of them.

Since they have to be quarantined to the barn for a minimum of a month to learn their "home base," we're hopeful they may come around to us but aren't sure. I have no pictures yet because they are very scared and need time to adjust. So I stopped by this morning with a little bit of tuna and some kind words and left them to their devices. Hopefully they eat it! I'll swing by tonight to see for sure. The first couple of days we were advised to keep our visits very short and gradually increase our time in their space.

They probably will not bother any doggie visitors that are boarding because they probably won't be near the areas dogs are in!

Happy June 1st everyone! Don't forget to give heartworm prevention today!

My own little punk gave me quite a scare on Friday. We were outside doing yardwork and just putzing around and admittedly I was not paying super close attention to what she was doing because she's a good girl and *mostly* behaves. When it was time to come inside she started acting very skittish. She does have a lot of nervous tendencies but this was different. She did not want to go through the door, be anywhere near me, and just laid on the ground looking scared. Then the lethargy started. She was falling asleep sitting up. So I called the vet and they said they would call back when the vets were done with lunch. So I triaged myself in the meantime. No swelling (that I could see), temp 102.9 (within normal range), nice pink gums. Ok I'll wait. Then she started dribbling urine. I took her back outside and she was wobbling like a drunk and leaking lots of p*e. Ok, now it's time to pick up the kid from school (and 2 hours later I have not heard anything from her vet). So I loaded up the dog and decided to just go after I grabbed the kid. They finally called back! The symptoms I told them about were not concerning. The new ones were, but there were no openings so get to the ER. I called the ER to let them know I was coming. I cannot say enough good things about the new animal ER in Holland...they are fantastic! They wanted me to call the ASPCA poison control to get more information and informed me there is a $110 service charge for their triage from veterinary experts...if the ER called on my behalf it would be more. The kiddo showed up at this time so I couldn't call, run gps, and drive all at the same time so I called once I got to the ER.

Once we got there most of her symptoms had resolved but she was still just dribbling p*e everywhere. So I called. The vet tech did her triage but informed me that once poison control assessed the situation, if they advised no treatment and to just wait it out I could leave and they would not charge me for an office visit. That's exactly what happened and I can't thank them enough for being so kind and transparent about pricing and procedures. Should this happen to a clients dog while in my care I would do the exact same thing because that's why I purchased insurance specific to animal boarding and daycare!

Anyway, she's fine. I still have no idea what happened...and this was her the next day. Brat!!

Sprout is enjoying a little bit of downtime until our next visitors arrive. Since I've only been doing the pet sitting thing since November, I don't really have a feel for where the light calendar days are going to be yet. I'm going to guess the end of the school year just may be one of them. All is good! Thank you to those who have left reviews and continue to recommend me.

This Memorial Day, my heart is heavy with gratitude as I remember the incredible souls who gave everything for our freedom. Today, we don't just honor the brave men and women in uniform—we also bow our heads for the loyal, four-legged heroes who served by their sides.

There is a profound, God-given bond between a soldier and their K9 partner. It is a relationship built on absolute trust, fierce loyalty, and a love so pure that it mirrors the selfless grace we are taught in Scripture:

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." — John 15:13

These courageous dogs didn't just explore caves or detect danger; they provided comfort in the darkest hours and protected their human handlers with every ounce of their being. They are standard-bearers of devotion, and we take comfort in knowing that every loyal servant—human and canine alike—rests safely in the Lord's eternal peace.

From Into the Woods Pet Sitting LLC, I pray for the families who carry the weight of loss, and I promise to never forget the sacrifices made on my behalf.

May God bless our fallen heroes, and may He watch over those who continue to serve. 🕊️✨

Thank you Mad Cheetah for helping me equip my dog areas on a budget! I'm so excited to get this herding ball into the play yard!

It looks way big in the photos because it is meant for horses but it's 25"

I’ve recently discovered some missed messages in my business email. To anyone who reached out and was met with silence: I am so sorry!

I’m officially back on top of things and ready to help. I’ll be reaching out to those I missed, but feel free to send a fresh message if you still need a hand. Thanks for being patient with me as I grow! 🌲✨.

Edit: please note that the best ways to reach me are Facebook messenger, text/call, and then email.

We are so excited to finally share the results of our latest project. Our guests now have a dedicated 50' x 50' secure enclosure to run, play, and explore during their stay.
We designed this space with both fun and safety in mind:
Strategic Shade: Positioned perfectly to keep pups cool during those sunny afternoons.
Pest Control Access: Designed with a perimeter path so we can keep the area safe from ticks and pests without interrupting playtime.
Skill-Building: The new play equipment is already a hit and working exactly as we envisioned!
We aren’t done yet! We have big plans to add a splash pool, fresh surfacing, and extra "dig-proof" reinforcement soon. For now, we’re having a blast sniffing, hiding, and exploring.
Check out these photos of our first guests enjoying the new space! 👇

I am so incredibly excited to share some big news! Because of your amazing support and the trust you place in me to care for your furry family members, I was able to officially open a brand-new, fenced-in outdoor play area!

I’m still adding the finishing touches, but I couldn't wait to share these photos of our first official test crew. Stella the Coonhound, Maise the Texas Heeler, Koda the Pomsky, and my own Sprout took the lead this weekend, and the verdict is in: it’s a total win!

I’ll keep sharing updates as the space evolves, but for now, I’m just so grateful to have this safe, fun spot for your pups to explore. Thank you for making this possible!

Headline: Why I ask about your dog’s breed (It’s not why you think!) 🐾

We finally made it out for a mile-long walk today—our first big trek in a few weeks! Life happened for two reasons: I was recovering from a stubborn respiratory virus, and my recent houseguest had some very specific physical needs.

This is where my veterinary background really comes into play as a caretaker! My last guest was a brachycephalic breed (the "flat-faced" cuties like Pugs, Frenchies, and Boston Terriers). Because of their facial structure, intense exercise or overheating can be dangerous—even fatal.

When I ask about your dog's breed before booking, it’s never about being picky; it’s about safety and enrichment. I tailor every walk and activity to what your dog’s body can handle. If it’s a breed I’m less familiar with, I hit the books to make sure I’m providing the best care possible!

Contrast that with Koda (the Husky mix in the photo)—he probably would have walked all the way home to Hudsonville if I let him! 😅 For today, the end of the street was the perfect compromise.

Bonus: Check out this incredible rock I found while the pups were taking a sniff break! 🪨✨

🐾 New Kid on the Block: Meet Koda! 🐾

Wait... another new dog already?

Yup! My very short-term weekend guests have vacated (though they’ll be back for two more sleeps later in the week), and a new pup has officially arrived.

Those dreamy blue eyes belong to the mild-mannered Koda, a Pomsky! Can you say cute? 😍

Bonus points for this visit: he already knows a human in our home, so there was no need for him to pack a bag of familiar items this stay. He just brought along his own kibble to help keep any vacation stress at bay.

We are already having a blast! Welcome to the pack, Koda! 🐕💨✨
