Back Road Boarding

Back Road Boarding A family of four providing services for your four-legged family members! We are planning our wedding for September 23, 2023.

BARK, I’m Amber Laudenslager, owner and operator of Back Road Boarding, Kountry Kuts, Lauden Labs, Rhonda’s Rottweilers, Murray’s Cream of Crop Goldens, and Murray’s Mountains. Our names stem from my family roots: located on “Back Road” in the “Kountry”, my mother “Rhonda”, my father “Murray”, and our last name “Lauden”slager. My fiance, Colynn, and I live on premises with our 2 Bernese Mountain

Dogs, 2 English Cream Golden Retrievers, 3 Rottweilers, 1 Black Lab, 4 Red Fox Labs, 4 Silver Labs, and our resident cats, Charlie and Larry. Although Murray and Rhonda Laudenslager – mother and father of owner and operator Amber, no longer reside at Back Road Boarding they are always sniffing around and a bark away when help is needed! Colynn is currently working a full time job outside of our home, but started his own business, Fry Farms, in 2022 with plans of becoming a self-employed dog dad in the future! The reception will be held on the Back Road Boarding property surrounded by friends, family, and clients.

The boarding pups were ready fur bed after a long 16-hour day. They settled in fur the night after I put them to bed… but what they didn’t know was that I had just snuck inside to put the baby to bed and still had the breeding kennel left to tuck in fur the night.

Funny enough, if you watch the video, the dogs aren’t making a peep! 😂 The birds, however, are making enough noise fur everybody. Apparently they didn’t get the memo that it was bedtime. 🐦 Does anyone know how to put the birds to bed? Asking fur a friend. 😂

I hated to disturb the peace and quiet, but after another hour of random barks here and there, everyone settled right back down. 😴

What they really don’t know yet is that tomorrow is shaping up to be the busiest day of the year so far! As many of their stays come to an end, they’ll be heading home fresh and clean to celebrate Father’s Day with their dog dads. 🐾

Please be respectful of our business hours (7 AM–9 AM & 4 PM–6 PM) for all drop-offs and pick-ups to help our busy day run as smoothly as possible. We truly appreciate it!

Hope they’re getting a good night’s sleep… they’re gonna need it tomorrow! 😂🐾

If you’ve ever been IN my kennel, you’ve probably commented on how loud it is. 😂 And if you did, you’ve probably heard me say, “it gets quiet.”

You probably didn’t believe me… honestly, I wouldn’t either if I didn’t hear it with my own ears!

Tonight I finally caught it on video. 🐶💤

This clip was taken after a full 17-hour day, and the silence is almost hard to believe. You’d think THEY did all the work! 😅

Today we were completely SOLD OUT of our standard kennels and even handed out a few complimentary pupgrades to some lucky guests! Every dog enjoyed:
🐾 1-3 meals
💊 Medication as directed
💧 Fresh water
🎾 4 playtimes

After a day that started at 4:00 AM and ended at 9:00 PM, this is what Back Road Boarding sounds like…

Any guesses how many dog(s) are in this video? 👀👇

Last weekend we welcomed 12-year-old Husky, Maya, to Back Road Boarding! 🐾

I figured Maya was a little grumpy about brushing, and honestly, if a 12-year-old wants to be grumpy about grooming, they’ve earned that right! 😂

Her family didn’t ask for anything extra, but before pick-up I decided to give her a quick blowout with the dryer to help remove some of that unwanted undercoat. The best part? I was able to get a surprising amount of hair out without ever touching her with a brush, so there was no discomfort at all.

She may not have been deshedded pawfectly, but I know her coat had to feel a whole lot better. Most importantly, it didn’t change her attitude toward me one bit, and I’ll take that as a win! ❤️

Sometimes with senior dogs, you just do what you can, make them as comfortable as possible, and call it a successful day. 🐶✨

Today our veterinarian, Dr. Joy Lenker, was scheduled to neuter two of our Lauden Labs. She arrived with her assistant, Emily, and second-year veterinary student Mikayla DeReinzi from Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee.

We first had the privilege of meeting Mikayla last summer during her internship with Dr. Lenker and her team. Since then, it has been exciting to watch her continue pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Our relationship with Dr. Lenker has been developing for over nine years. During that time, she has become a huge part of my life, career, family, and businesses. When you own a kennel and breeding program like ours, having a veterinarian you trust and can rely on is truly priceless. The relationship between a veterinarian and their clients is so much more than appointments and procedures—it becomes a partnership built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to animal care.

I was incredibly honored when Dr. Lenker asked if I would allow Mikayla to perform her first and second canine neuters under her supervision. She had my full blessing. Veterinary students have to learn somewhere, and I couldn’t think of a better mentor than Dr. Lenker—or better dogs than our Lauden Labs—to help her reach this exciting milestone. 🐾❤️

I want to sincerely thank Dr. Lenker, Emily, and their entire team for everything they have done—and everything they will continue to do—for our family, our dogs, and our businesses. Their dedication, knowledge, and support over the last nine years have meant more than words can express.

We also want to wish Mikayla the very best as she completes the next two years of veterinary school. We hope that one day she finds her way back to serve our beautiful community because we all know how desperately our area needs more veterinary care.

Congratulations, Mikayla, on reaching such an exciting milestone. We were honored to be a small part of your journey, and we look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the years ahead. 🩺🐾❤️

Not one, not two, but THREE Triple Crown pups from the same Triple Crown family! 🏆🐾

Because let’s be honest… Lauden Labs are like potato chips — you can’t have just one! 😂

🐶 Copper from Ember × Rocky’s Clifford the Big Red Dog litter
🐶 River from Gisele × Rory’s Puppy Love litter
🐶 Cedar from Nala × Rocky’s Winter litter

Tonight these three were patiently supervising while I made my rounds and tucked everyone in for the night. 🌅❤️ There’s just something special about watching dogs you’ve bred, boarded, and groomed standing together under a beautiful country sunset at Back Road Boarding.

Triple Crown clients make this job extra rewarding. 🏆🐾

🐾❤️ Meet Rosie ❤️🐾

Rosie is a retired seeing-eye dog with a heart of gold. Her owner, now 90 years old, has unfortunately been in and out of the hospital recently. When his daughter, who lives in Tennessee, reached out looking for help caring for Rosie while they navigate finding an assisted living facility where the two can be reunited, I was happy to help.

At Back Road Boarding, we believe family comes first. ❤️ We have an open-door policy for Rosie, meaning she can visit her dad anytime and come right back to us afterward. In fact, this is technically her second stay after enjoying a short visit back home.

We’re honored to play a small role in helping this family during a difficult time and are happy to care for Rosie for as long as they need us. Our goal is simple: keep Rosie safe, loved, and comfortable until she and her best friend can be together again. 🐾

Stories like Rosie’s are a reminder that dog boarding is about so much more than kennels and playtime—sometimes it’s about being there when families need a helping hand. ❤️🐕‍🦺

You met the new king of the hill, now it’s time to meet the new queen! 👑🐾

Welcome Emmy to Back Road Boarding! This sweet girl was a little shy when she first arrived, but then I spoke her language… Labrador Retriever. 🎾😂

One game of fetch later and she came completely out of her shell! Now she’s all smiles, tail wags, and living her best life on top of the play equipment like she owns the place. ❤️

We love watching new guests settle in and let their personalities shine. Safe to say Emmy is feeling right at home already! 🐕✨

👑 Ghost’s First Stay Pupdate! 👑

Ghost has decided he’s the king of Back Road Boarding! 😂

We had one minor hiccup during his first stay when he discovered he could jump one of the 4-foot fences in our entrance area. Don’t worry though—he didn’t go far! He simply hopped over, laid down by the kennel door, and patiently waited for me to let him back inside. 🤦‍♀️🐾

Now Ghost enjoys playtime in our yards surrounded by 8-foot fencing and is settling in right where he belongs!

A hiccup or two during a dog’s first stay is completely normal. One of my favorite parts of being a small business is getting to know each dog as an individual—their personalities, quirks, and little habits. Once we learn what makes them tick, we can make sure they have the best stay possible. ❤️

Safe to say Ghost has settled in just fine and is enjoying his stay at Back Road Boarding! 🐶👑

Bucky says that after a couple stays with us over the past year, it was finally time fur his official Back Road Boarding photoshoot! 📸🐾

Ten minutes, countless treats, and way too many photos later, we ended up with these favorites that perfectly capture the BIG personality trapped inside that little corgi body. 😂❤️

From sitting pretty to sticking his nose directly in the camera, Bucky made sure every photo showed off his charm!

Where are my corgi lovers?! 👇🐶

🐾 Weekend Guest Spotlight! 🐾

We welcomed NINE new guests to Back Road Boarding over the weekend! 🎉

While I tried to get photos of everyone, the weekend got away from me (as it usually does when you’re having fun! 😂). I may have to schedule a special photo shoot with the pups I missed during their next stay.

Today, I wanted to spotlight one of the sweet faces I did get the chance to meet and photograph—WINNIE! ❤️🐶

This adorable girl stole a few hearts during her visit, and I know she won’t be the last!

📣 Where are my Basset Hound lovers at?! Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you can’t resist those long ears, droopy eyes, and lovable personalities!
