149 days. That's how long Ada has been waiting.

At 8Β½ years old, this sweet senior has watched countless dogs come and go while she remains behind. We've shared her story again and again, hoping the right person would see what we see every single day.

But here's something we want everyone to know: We haven't given up on Ada.

Not for a second.

Behind the scenes, our behavior team has spent months learning alongside her, working patiently to understand how her blindness shapes the way she experiences the world. Every success, every setback, every tiny breakthrough has taught us something new.

And we have good news. Ada doesn't have to be the only dog in the home after all.

With a patient family, understanding canine companions willing to wear a bell, and slow, thoughtful introductions, Ada can learn to feel safe sharing her home. It takes work. It takes compassion. It takes people who understand that a blind dog can be startled when someone sneaks up on her - but who are willing to help her navigate those moments instead of giving up.

Because we're certainly not giving up.

Ada has her Halo mobility aid. She has a team that loves her fiercely. She has her foster homes, that helped us learn so much more about Ada than we ever could have hoped in the shelter. She has medical support, behavioral support, and people rooting for her every single day.

What she doesn't have is the one thing she wants most. A home.

A family willing to see past her age. Past her disability. A family who understands that this sweet old lady still gets the zoomies, still loves enrichment, still deserves adventures, and still has so much life left to live.

149 days is a long time to wait, but we believe Ada's story isn't over yet.

We still believe her person is out there.

And we hope Greenville believes that too. πŸ’š

🚨 We have reason to believe there's been... an incident in our cattery. 🚨

The evidence? Buster and Izzy have both been spotted walking around with their tongues out like they just got into the premium catnip stash. We can't prove anything. We also can't rule it out.

Either they're living their best goofy little lives, or they've discovered something the rest of us haven't.

The good news? These two adorable weirdos are both looking for forever homes, and right now you can adopt them for $50 off! But you'll have to act fast - our kitty adoption special ends this Friday, July 31.

Come meet Buster, Izzy, and all of our delightfully questionable little characters before the sale ends. We promise they come with plenty of personality... and only suspected catnip-related shenanigans. πŸ’š

Our social media human came back from vacation, looked at the kennel list, and immediately had one question:
..WHY IS JAZI STILL HERE?!

Seriously. Make it make sense.

Jazi has officially spent 152 days waiting for a family, and we're convinced there's been some sort of clerical error.

Because here's the thing:

She's potty trained. She knows "sit." She walks beautifully on a leash. She loves adventures outside. She does well with kids and other pups. She's playful, goofy, affectionate, and ready to be your new best friend.

Her biggest offense? She's an oversized puppy who occasionally forgets that hugs are supposed to be gentle. (Personal space is more of a suggestion when you love people this much. We're serious. She WILL sit all 50lbs of herself into your lap.)

Right now, Jazi is taking a well-deserved break from the shelter in a foster home, but foster care isn't the ending she deserves. She deserves a couch. A backyard. A family who laughs at her zoomies and doesn't mind the occasional enthusiastic cuddle.

So we're asking again...

WHY. IS. JAZI. STILL. HERE?

Let's fix this together.

If you'd like to meet Jazi, email our Behavior Team at [email protected] to schedule a meet-and-greet. We have a feeling you'll be just as confused as we are that she's still waiting. πŸ’š

PS: We are prepared to post Jazi every single day. Every single HOUR if she's not adopted soon.

Some stories are worth the wait, and Stormi's is one we'll never forget.

Many of you may remember this sweet girl after she spent months and months at our shelter, waiting for the right person to see past the things that made her "less adoptable." Stormi wanted to be the only pet in the home. She had allergies that required medication and a special diet. She had her own little quirks and needed someone patient enough to understand them.

Finding homes for dogs like Stormi isn't always easy. But that doesn't mean they deserve love any less.

Then Annie came along.

An experienced dog owner with a big heart, Annie was ready to embrace every challenge that came with Stormi - and every wonderful thing, too.

This week, Annie surprised us by bringing one of our favorite alumni back for a visit. It had been months since we'd seen Stormi's adorable little piggy tail or heard her signature raspy bark, and seeing her again was the best kind of reunion.

The anxious pup who once paced endlessly in her kennel was gone. In her place was a happy, confident dog who soaked up attention, wagged that little tail with pride, and settled into the cutest sploots without a care in the world. She was absolutely glowing.

Stormi is proof that the "right home" isn't always the quickest one to find, but it's always worth waiting for.

Happy Tails Sunday, Upstate. Here's to every dog still waiting for the person who will love them exactly as they are. πŸΎπŸ’š

🚨 ATTENTION HUMANS 🚨

Our social media writer has abandoned us for vacation.

We considered being professional about it... but then we remembered we're a shelter full of dogs and cats with unrestricted internet access.

So for the next few days, we're taking over the comments to advertise ourselves. Expect shameless self-promotion, questionable spelling (we don't have thumbs), demands for snacks, and probably a few accusations that the cheese and hotdog supply is running inhumanely low.

If you've ever wondered what our adoptable pets would say if they could type... you're about to find out.

Good luck, humans. The comment section belongs to us now. 🐾

Sometimes, it's easy to forget what a shelter feels like from an animal's perspective. Unfortunately, Nova reminds us just how overwhelming and frightening the world can be when you're waiting for someone to choose you.

Most days, Nova hides. She curls into the smallest space she can find, trying to disappear from the noise, the unfamiliar faces, and the constant activity around her. Even the gentlest touch can feel scary. But over time, so very slowly, her walls have begun to come down.

What we've learned is that Nova isn't just another shy, shut-down cat. She absolutely loves Churu treats, and little by little, she's been building trust with the staff members who make her feel the safest. In a behavioral foster home, Nova finally had the chance to show us who she really is. That frightened little cat, always trying to make herself invisible, blossomed into a deeply affectionate lap cat whose fear slowly began to melt away.

Nova isn't broken. She simply isn't meant for life in a loud, crowded shelter. She needs a quiet home where she can finally exhale. A family willing to move at her pace, to offer patience instead of pressure, and love without expectations.

Give Nova the time she needs, and one day you'll look down to find your once-timid girl following you from room to room, curled up in your lap, wondering how she ever lived without you. πŸ’š

We’re starting to think Nanook might actually be the perfect Husky. πŸ’š

Seriously. This giant fluffy boy is house trained, plays beautifully with other dogs (even if he likes to be in charge), adores kids, and treats every kind of playtime like it’s the best moment of his life. Whether it’s a game of fetch, a romp with dog friends, or simply being included in the fun, Nanook is all in.

Of course, he is a Husky, which means he comes with the classic Husky package: he’s incredibly intelligent, deeply social, and happiest when his brain is being challenged. He’ll need a family willing to provide enrichment, keep him active, and stay on top of that gorgeous coat maintenance.

But what you get in return is honestly something special. Nanook is the biggest, goofiest, sweetest boy - equal parts adventure buddy and cuddle bug. He has the kind of personality that makes people stop and smile, and the kind of heart that makes you wonder how he’s still waiting for a forever home.

No drama, only a LITTLE chaos, and no β€œtypical Husky problems” here. Just a ridiculously wonderful dog who’s ready to make someone very, very lucky. 🐾
