This week, our Student Volunteer in the Spotlight is Chloe Sheldon. Chloe has been riding at High Caliber since she was 10 years old, and as she has gotten more experience, she spends more and more time at the barn. Each week, we have been featuring one of our volunteer workers, asking them about all of their time spent "Hands On At High Caliber".
1) 1) What is your favorite job to do when helping at the barn?
Watering the horses, tacking up horses as well as untacking horses are my favorite jobs at the barn.
2) How has working with the horses outside of scheduled lessons made you a better rider?
I have learned a lot more about what each horse needs when I am riding or dealing with on the ground from spending time helping at the barn.
3). What 2 pieces of advice do you have for newer riders and riders that want to come spend more time at the barn?
Always listen to what Lauren, Abby and Meredith, etc have to say and
Always be respectful to everyone and every horse in the barn :)
4) What skills do you want to improve upon and/or learn as you spend more time working with horses?
I would like to get better at bridling more horses and I would also like to learn how to do tongue ties.
5) What is your answer when friends and family ask “What do you do all day at the barn?”
I tell that I help out however I can and I try to make everyone’s lives easier at the barn.
