🐾💕 A Little Personal Update From Behind the Scenes at Wagging Divas 💕🐾
I wanted to take a moment to share something personal with all of my amazing clients. This isn’t an easy post for me to make, but I feel it’s important to be open about some of the challenges I face that aren’t always visible to others.
I live with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures (PNES), and other ongoing health challenges.
For those who aren’t familiar, FND is a real neurological condition that affects how the brain and body communicate. It can cause seizure-like episodes, extreme fatigue, weakness, pain, brain fog, memory difficulties, and other unpredictable symptoms. PNES causes involuntary seizure episodes that can be physically and mentally exhausting.
One of the hardest parts about living with these conditions is that I never know what kind of day I’m going to have. I can feel completely fine one moment and suddenly become overwhelmed by symptoms the next. Some days I can function almost normally, while other days even the simplest tasks can feel impossible.
These conditions affect so much more than just my work. They affect my independence, my energy, my ability to make plans, and my everyday life. There are things I wish I could do that my body simply won’t allow me to do anymore.
And as much as I love grooming, my health doesn’t always cooperate with my schedule. 💔
Sometimes that means I have to reschedule appointments unexpectedly, respond to messages later than I’d like, or take time away from work to recover. Please understand that these decisions are never made lightly. I know how frustrating last-minute changes can be, especially when you’ve planned your day around an appointment.
What many people don’t see is how hard I push myself behind the scenes to keep doing something I genuinely love. Grooming isn’t just a job to me. Every dog that walks through my door matters, and I take so much pride in providing them with a safe, comfortable, one-on-one experience.
But I’ve also had to learn that pushing through my symptoms isn’t always possible or safe, especially when I’m responsible for someone else’s beloved pet. If I need to cancel or reschedule because of my health, it’s because I would never want to put your baby or myself in an unsafe situation.
I also want to explain that having an invisible illness doesn’t mean I’m not sick. Just because I may look okay, smile, laugh, or have a good day doesn’t mean these conditions aren’t affecting me. Some of my hardest battles are ones nobody ever sees.
I am doing everything I can to manage my health, communicate with everyone, and continue providing the quality of care your pets deserve. I am always trying to get back to messages and reschedule appointments as quickly as possible, even when I’m struggling myself.
I’m not sharing this for sympathy or as an excuse. I’m sharing it because I want my clients to understand that there’s a real person behind this small business who is trying her absolute best while navigating health challenges that are often completely out of her control.
I love what I do, I love your babies, and I don’t want my health conditions to take away something that brings me so much happiness. 🐶💗
To everyone who has shown me patience, kindness, understanding, and continued support, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea how much it means to me.
All I ask is for a little grace and understanding on the days when my health has to come first.
Thank you for supporting Wagging Divas and the person behind the grooming table. 🐾💕
