Meet Barron!

Barron is a sweet, playful, 3-month-old mix breed and super smart puppy who’s already making great progress in his foster home. When left alone, he does well he may cry briefly at first but settles quickly. At night, he heads right into his crate and falls asleep without a fuss. He’s not destructive and loves having a cozy blanket or stuffed toy to snuggle with.

Barron is doing well on the leash he might zig-zag a little, but overall he walks nicely and comes immediately when called. He’s been living with kids (ages 11 and 13) and has also spent time around a toddler. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and is very interested in other dogs, greeting them with tail wags and playful energy.

This little guy is full of puppy energy and loves to play. He’s a big fan of toys, especially when they help him redirect his puppy biting. He’s learning to chew on appropriate things like toys and puppy chews instead of shoes or household items and he's doing great with gentle redirection.

Potty training? Barron’s a star! He’s been going potty outside since day one and knows just what to do it’s all about catching him in time.

Barron would thrive in an active home that can match his energy. He’d love a yard to zoom around in and regular walks to explore the world. Once he’s through the puppy biting phase, he’ll be an awesome companion for kids especially if they’re involved in helping redirect and play with him.

Barron is not only adorable and energetic he’s also a champion cuddler. He loves to snuggle up for naps and bedtime, and it’s a joy to watch all the silly positions he sleeps in. He really is a wonderful puppy, and his foster family adores him! heanokill.org/howtoadopt

Meet Wiley!! ❤❤❤

Wiley is a sweet, easygoing guy who has quickly made himself right at home. He’s crate-trained and settles down nicely at night with no whining or crying. During the day, when left in a crate, he may whine briefly when you walk out the door, but he doesn’t destroy anything and calms down quickly.

He appears to be fully potty trained and walks well on a leash, though he could use a little help learning to walk in a straight line rather than a zigzag. He already knows “sit,” “shake,” and “down,” and he’s an affectionate, social boy who loves to be close to people. He’s fairly quiet overall, only whining a bit when he’s hoping for attention, and he settles down easily when you’re working or at night.

Although he hasn’t met any kids yet, he’s done well with the adults he’s met, and we don’t anticipate any issues. Wiley is great with other dogs too he’s done well with both his foster's Lab mix and the neighbor’s dogs.

More on the relaxed side, this 4-year-old Terrier/Mastiff is adaptable and would be happy in either a laid-back or active home. He loves being outside, gets super excited when the leash comes out, and enjoys going for walks or lounging on the patio to watch the world go by. He also has a playful side, enjoying a few minutes a day with a plush squeaky toy.

Friendly, easygoing, and very social, Wiley quickly finds ways to make himself at home and he’s got the best, funniest snore! He loves a good belly rub and is happiest when he can just be near his people, making himself cozy at (or on) their feet or even right on the couch.

If you’re looking for a loving companion who can fit into almost any lifestyle, Wiley just might be the one for you! heanokill.org/howtoadopt

🌸 Introducing Meadow and her mighty nine! 🌸

Yes, you read that right...NINE puppies! This tiny 21lb queen, Meadow, deserves a crown, a spa day, and maybe her own throne after raising her adorable crew. At just 2 years old, Meadow (a Chihuahua/Cattle Dog mix) has been the ultimate supermom and is still wrangling her wild bunch of 11-week-old pups like a pro.

Now it’s time for her to retire her mom jeans and step into her royal era and for her pups to find families of their own!

💙 The Boys: River, Forest, Flint, Cedar, Ash, and Briar
💖 The Girls: Fern, Eden, and Clover

We don’t know who the mystery dad is, but these pups are each rocking their own look and personality, weighing in around 6–8 lbs of pure puppy magic. If you’re ready for a mix of fun, fluff, and face kisses, check them out and get your application in!

Meet Birdie!! 🕊

Birdie is a 2-year-old, 19-pound bundle of love and playful energy! Don’t let her petite size fool you this girl’s got enough joy and personality to fill a whole house. Birdie is happiest when she’s with her people, whether she’s chasing toys in the yard, running zoomies with her doggie friends, or soaking up every belly rub she can get.

She’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on connection. Wherever you go, Birdie wants to go, too, your personal mini shadow. From curling up in your lap while you relax to gently resting her head on your leg just to feel close, she’s always nearby to remind you how much she loves you. If you’re lying in bed or sitting in a recliner, don’t be surprised if she finds a way to sneak in for a snuggle. She's also got a funny little quirk: when cuddling, she tucks her head in close and melts right into you. Oh, and she might try to sneak in a wet willie if you’re not paying attention. This girl is full of silly, loving surprises!

Birdie has a medium energy level. She enjoys bursts of excitement, zooming around and playing chase with her foster siblings (both a 5-month-old Chihuahua mix and a 9-year-old Beagle mix). After the fun, she’s more than ready to chill out with a good nap and a chew bone—her favorite! She loves dragging them to her favorite spots and will happily chew away.

She’s crate-trained and quiet, only barking when the other dogs do. She seems to be potty trained, takes treats gently from your hand, and responds well to redirection. She does get excited and may jump up to greet you, but she’s quick to learn, if you ignore the jumping, she’ll settle down and sit nicely for pets or treats.

Birdie loves kids (she adores her foster family’s boys, ages 10 and 14) and would do great in a home with children to keep her entertained. She’d also enjoy a playful dog sibling. She has a big personality and a lot of love to give, so any cats in the home should be dog-savvy and okay sharing the spotlight.

If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate companion who’ll fill your life with laughter, love, and maybe a few ear-licks, Birdie is your girl. Apply toady! heanokill.org/howtoadopt

Meet Leah!! 🌸

Leah is a 50-pound sweetheart who strikes the perfect balance between affection and independence. This almost 2-year-old is calm, gentle, and super relaxed content to lay at your feet or lounge on the front stoop, always keeping an eye on her favorite person. If you're nearby, she's happy. If you're out of sight? She might let you know she misses you with a little cry or by trying to follow because Leah’s loyalty runs deep.

She’s crate trained and settles in well after a few minutes of adjustment, though she may be a little stubborn about going in at first. Around the house, Leah is very well-behaved. She doesn’t get on furniture, seldom barks, and mostly spends her time chilling quietly. She’s a fan of leisurely walks and does great on leash, especially with a long lead outside. She isn’t interested in toys but may surprise you with a playful moment (a woodchip outside recently sparked a quick zoomie!).

Affectionate and sweet, Leah absolutely loves being pet. She’ll come up for attention throughout the day, especially enjoying gentle pats on her head and back and then return to her cozy corner. She may be a little hesitant with people at first, but quickly warms up and now greets friends with tail wags and love.

She’s good with other calm animals, enjoys car rides, and has a soft spot for some toys. She eats slowly, preferring her food softened with water, and thrives best in a calm, quiet home where she feels safe. While she can get startled if approached too quickly, she’s never reactive; she’s more likely to freeze or shy away.

Leah is independent, affectionate, and low-maintenance, a perfect match for someone looking for a loyal companion to share their days with. heanokill.org/howtoadopt

We’ve made a lifetime guarantee...

50% is a BIG Number

The year was 2006. The state of companion animal welfare across the nation was downright ugly. It was commonplace for 50% of the dogs and cats entering shelters to be losing their lives. Our community was no exception.

Our founder, then 21-year-old, Amanda Reitz knew there had to be another way. With her parents as co-founders, the Reitz's committed to making the welfare of companion animals their life's work. They saw the problem and leaned in. Together they set out on a journey to create positive and lasting change on companion animal welfare in our community and beyond.

HEA Today You've heard the story before about the successful business that got its start in a garage. Our story has that element too. And now HEA provides direct care for nearly 200 dogs and cats through our Green Bay adoption center location, our growing foster network, and our Sanctuary (rehabilitation and lifetime care facility) located on 40-sprawling acres in Marion, WI.
