Seven years of Rip. 💙

Seven years of loyalty, adventures, work days, road trips, belly rubs, making people smile, and somehow always knowing exactly when I need him most.

Rip isn’t just a good boy—he’s "my" boy. My sidekick, my shadow, my service dog, and a huge piece of my heart.

I wish dogs could understand birthdays, because I’d tell him that today we’re celebrating seven years of him making my world better just by being in it.

Happy 7th Birthday, Rip! Here’s to extra treats, extra snuggles, and absolutely no expectation of personal space today.

🚨 DON’T WALK AWAY. THAT DOG IS COUNTING ON YOU. 🚨

A vehicle can become deadly in just minutes—even if the windows are cracked. Dogs can’t cool themselves the way humans can, and heatstroke can happen fast.

If you see a dog trapped in a hot car:

🐾 Call 911 immediately.
🐾 Write down the vehicle’s make, model, color, and license plate.
🐾 Ask nearby businesses to page the owner.
🐾 Stay with the dog until help arrives.

Can you break the window in Colorado?

Yes—but only if you follow Colorado law. Colorado’s “Good Samaritan” law protects people from civil and criminal liability when rescuing a dog from a locked vehicle if all of these conditions are met:

✔️ You reasonably believe the dog is in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury.
✔️ You confirm the vehicle is locked.
✔️ You make a reasonable effort to locate the owner.
✔️ You call 911 or law enforcement before entering the vehicle.
✔️ You use only the force necessary to rescue the dog.
✔️ You stay with the dog in a safe place until first responders arrive (or leave the required information if emergency veterinary care is needed).

Pool safety inspection is serious business.

Koda thinks she’s training for the Doggie Olympics.

I’m over here making sure she doesn’t belly flop, drink the entire pool, or somehow turn a kiddie pool into an emergency.

Somebody around here has to be the responsible adult… and apparently it’s me.

10/10 for enthusiasm.
6/10 for swimming.
0/10 for listening.

Mom said we were going to the Red, White & Vroom car show in downtown Greeley Friday Fest

I thought “car show” meant we’d be chasing them.

Turns out… you’re supposed to look at them.

I practiced my public manners, collected an embarrassing amount of compliments, made a few new friends, and somehow managed not to drool on the million-dollar paint jobs.

The cars were classics…

But let’s be honest… everyone knows the cutest thing downtown wasn’t parked—it was sitting politely next to one.

I still think they should’ve handed out trophies for Best Smile and Most Likely to Convince a Stranger to Share Their Hot Dog. 🐾🚘

I would just like to file a formal complaint… 🐾

Whoever invented the upside-down Frisbee clearly never tested it with a dog.

I sniffed it.
I nudged it.
I pawed it.
I even tried using my brain cell…

Nothing.

Meanwhile, my human just stood there laughing instead of flipping it over. RUDE. 😂💔

I still think I deserve an A+ for effort and at least three treats for emotional damages. 🍖

From Rip & Koda...

Humans, it's the Fourth of July again.

You all have this strange tradition where you cook perfectly good hot dogs... then celebrate by making the sky explode.

We're not saying we don't appreciate the BBQ. We absolutely do.

We're just questioning the part where the neighborhood suddenly sounds like it's under attack.

Rip: "I'm a service dog. I'll keep my cool... but I'd still prefer if freedom could be celebrated a little quieter."

Koda: "The first BOOM? I thought the world was ending. The second BOOM? I was already planning my escape to the bathtub."

If your dog isn't as brave as they pretend to be, do them a favor:

* Bring them inside before the fireworks start.
* Turn on the TV or some music to drown out the noise.
* Break out the stuffed Kong, favorite chew, or all the snacks.
* Double-check collars, ID tags, and gates—scared dogs can run farther than they ever have before.
* And if they want to be your 75-pound lap dog for the night... just accept your fate.

Have a safe Fourth of July, keep your pups close, and remember...

The fireworks are for you.

Well, this is embarrassing.

I went to one Canine Good Citizen class at American Dog School (Fort Collins, CO) and somehow ended up on the cover of a magazine.

I haven't even passed the test yet.

To be fair, I have been working very hard. I've learned how to walk politely through crowds, ignore other dogs (most of the time), focus on my trainer, and practice all the important skills needed to become a Canine Good Citizen.

My biggest challenge so far? Convincing everyone that stopping to make friends with every dog in class should count as a personality trait, not a training issue.

A huge thank you to Trainer Tami Carrasco at American Dog School for helping me become the best version of myself. She makes learning fun, builds my confidence, and help dogs like me learn real-world skills that last a lifetime.

If you're looking for a place to train with your dog, I highly recommend American Dog School. The humans seem pretty smart, and they hand out a lot of treats.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to prepare for my next photoshoot and continue my journey toward becoming an official Canine Good Citizen.

Pool season is officially open!

The whole crew took their first dip of the year, but the real star of the show was Koda. It was her very first time in the pool, and let’s just say… she understood the assignment immediately.

While Rip and the gang acted like seasoned professionals, Koda jumped right in and had the time of her life. Splashing, swimming, zooming, and making sure everyone knew this was HER pool now.

Safe to say summer has officially started at our house.

🐰🥚 EASTER UPDATE: WE HAVE A SITUATION. 🥚🐰

The egg hunt was going great…
Baskets were full.
Yard looked cute.
Spring vibes were vibing…

Then Rip showed up.

There are no eggs left.
I repeat — NO EGGS LEFT.

He found them.
He opened them.
He ate them.
He has zero regrets.

Somewhere there’s supposed to be a “golden egg”… but Rip said “that was actually the appetizer.”

If your dog hasn’t found their eggs yet… it’s because Rip already did.
