We always love it when pet parents show their appreciation for our team through goodies...and feel-good stories! 📖

Cheeto came to us after experiencing some abdominal pain for several days of not eating. After an ultrasound revealed free fluid in his belly and a life-threatening gallbladder mucocele with suspected gallbladder rupture, it was recommended to have an emergency surgery. 🚑

After his early morning surgery to remove the gall bladder and multiple days with intensive hospitalization, Cheeto took a turn for the absolute best. ✨

We, as a hospital, are always so happy to see our patients show us their true personality after seeing them at their sickest. 🧡

📅 Severus decided to check the schedule on when a good time would be to eat something he shouldn't have...

Unfortunately for his moms (Technicians Callie and Nicole), that time was when they were out of town. ✈️ Yes, vet staff can also have troublesome pets that cause them stress! 😹

These technicians may have one ornery cat, but luckily, they work with a team of wonderful doctors and fellow technicians who were able to help Severus avoid (another) foreign body surgery. 💪 🖤

After inducing vomiting, Severus produced a majority of the plastic he ate, and an endoscope procedure was able to remove the remaining 3 pieces.

Be sure to stay out of trouble, Severus! 😻

🚗 🐇 If your parents are willing to drive 2 hours to have you be seen for not eating your favorite foods, you better arrive in style. 🐰 ✨

If you're worried your rabbit skips a meal, we're worried too! 🥬 🌿

Luckily for Thunder, his parents knew the signs to look for and sought out immediate medical help before making an appointment with their primary vet.

Here at AEHNT, we like to hold friendly competitions, especially ones that focus on important vet tech skills. Recently, we had a competition on making the best blood smears. 🩸 💉

🤔 Why are blood smears important in vet med?
Blood smears are often used to complement complete blood counts (CBC) and help identify abnormalities in blood cells, such as infections, anemia, or other hematological conditions. These slides can be read either manually or with specialized equipment that will scan these slides and send images to a Hematopathologist.

💭 What makes a good blood smear?
Making sure your sample is of a "bullet" shape with a feathered edge
Making sure your slide is free of streaks or clumps
Making sure your slide is properly stained, not too dark and not too light

🥇 🏆 Congratulations to Rachael J., Shelby and Alex M. for being our top 3 participants!

⚠️ WARNING: Golden puppy smooches ahead! 😘

Nate was feeling a little under the weather, so his parents brought him into AEHNT to see what was going on. 🐶 🏥

Luckily, his parvo snap test was negative, so he went home after an injection of Cerenia, to help with the nausea, and some kisses for the road from his technician, Magan. 💋 🐕 🐾
