Some of our dogs have to the be the only pets in the home so those foster homes are always needed. We have very few dogs due to the lack of foster homes. If you would like to foster, please complete a foster appliation. We can't save them if they have no place to go.

She's hiding in the bathroom. Her kennel is beside the garage door. She's terrified because it sounds like world war 3 outside. Is that really necessary? There's a reason there are public firework shows. I hope everybody has their pups and cats taken care of.

HOME!

We need your help and your eyes! River got out of the house this morning when they let the dogs out and they didn't realize it. River is a house cat and does not need to be outside. It is way too hot.

Happy month of July! Well at least every day except for the 4th. As you know this is the biggest day for dogs to escape their owners. July 5th is the busiest day at animal control however consider that July 5th is a Saturday. Most animal controls are not open on Saturday. This means if your dog gets out and you can't get it it's running till Monday. Increasing its chances of getting hit by a car, attacked by another dog, picked up by someone with ill intentions. I know we do this every year and you might get tired of hearing it if you're one of those that takes care of your dog during this time. But there's always someone that needs to hear this. Lets start with,

IF YOUR DOG IS AFRAID OF THUNDERSTORMS, YOU NEED TO GET DRUGS TO HELP THEM WITH FIREWORKS. THEY WILL BE AFRAID OF FIREWORKS. IF YOUR DOG IS STARTLED BY LOUD NOISES, GET THE PRESCRIPTION, YOUR DOG WILL BE SCARED OF FIREWORKS. IF YOU HAVE A NEW DOG AND HAVE NO IDEA IF THEY ARE, GET A PRESCRIPTION. JUST IN CASE.

#1 Most important! If you get your dog BOOM BOOM DRUGS, don't wait till the 4th of July. Call your vet TODAY, fireworks have already started.

#2 Do not take your dog to a 4th of July celebrations where there will be fireworks. There is a chance they will be frightened and get away from you. I hear all the time this is the first time he's done this He's never been afraid of fireworks. Well they're older now and their senses have changed.

#3 do not leave your dog chained up in the backyard or loose in the backyard. Dogs have jumped fences and hung themselves on leashes and chains. If dogs are frightened they will find a way to get out. If they can chew through a door they can chew through a privacy fence

Now here's what to do

Bring your dog in. Everyone has a bathroom. Most have a basement or laundry room. Prepare your dog a blanket to lay on and a radio to help cover the noise. And don't forget the boom boom drugs. If your dog is an inside dog. THANK YOU! Let them sit with you and comfort them through the loud noises. Do not open your door for anything. The dog will run.

Treat your dog like a frightened child because that's what they are. Just simply use your common sense. July 5th is a busiest days at animal controls. Remember your animal control will be closed on Saturday. That will give a running dog 3 days to get hit by a car, attacked by another dog, picked up by someone who has ill intentions, etc.

Everyone have a safe and happy new 4th of July. Please take care of your animals. - deb

I started on this journey 15 years ago last month, and it has been an honor to dedicate myself to making a difference in the lives of animals. At 47 years old, I was determined to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Over the years, we have had numerous changes, including volunteers and locations. I have taken on various roles, from transporting animals to other rescues, to driving eight hours round trip to save a dog from euthanasia. I have advocated for animal welfare, using my voice to raise awareness and inspire change. While I have faced opposition and criticism, I have stayed true in my commitment to this cause. Animals depend on us to be their champions, to stand up against injustice and cruelty. They rely on us to provide a voice, to demand better treatment and protection. It is our moral obligation to act, to use our voices to create a world where animals are treated with respect, kindness, and compassion. While there may be challenges, together, we can achieve so much and I am proud to be part of this community. Evry effort, no matter how small, counts. Every donation, every volunteer hour, every voice raised in support of animal welfare makes a difference. This is why I am celebrating another birthday by raising funds. This year I have a very ambitious goal of raising $1,000+. I believe that together, we can achieve this goal and make a difference in the lives of animals. Your support means the world to me, and I am so grateful. As I celebrate another year of life, I am filled with hope for the future. I know that together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for those with no voice.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. - Deb
