Long time customer D J Sambucetti from California drove out, rented a U-Haul trailer, picked up his double pedestal deer and elk mounts he harvested in Colorado and turned around and headed right back. Well, I’ll see ya again in a few months when we finish your lifesize Tule Elk. Very interesting mount here, check out the antler growing out of the deer’s muzzle….. extremely rare!!

Love them Big Bucks from the good ole’ days, usually the 1960’s and 70’s. This buck was killed in 1948. Pictured with me is Rich Bullard who’s dad killed the deer in Colorado. The hunting license was still attached to the back of the old mount. Of course I tried to buy it from him, but he wanted to keep it and remount it and cherish the memories of his father. I can certainly respect that. I hope it’ll always be kept in the family.

More trophies heading home. Ruben Beltran with a nice hard-horn archery buck. Proud dad Matt McCoon and son Sean with his first antelope. Jim Dowd with a really nice late season whitetail. Arizona resident James Chandler got the call that his mule deer was done. He jumped in his truck and headed to Colorado to pick it up. After a short visit he headed right back home.

As promised, here’s the finished mount of the big ole’ Utah sheds brought in by Antler Hound Dan Dalton of Moab, Utah. These antlers were found after several years laying out in the Utah desert. They were found points-up which means the show side when mounted were in the worst shape. We worked our magic and restored and colored the antlers back to a natural state. We set the sheds at 43 inches wide. This awesome mount will now be quite the conversation piece!

An awesome accomplishment! Not every hunter can lay claim to putting an antelope in the Boone and Crockett Record Book and one in the Pope and Young Record Book. The 17 inch antelope on the left we mounted 25 years ago for Kurt. The bow kill on the right is Kurt Shepherd’s latest harvest. Both antelope were taken on public land.

Can’t get rid of this guy! Charley was a customer for years…. Then he took my taxidermy course. Now he’s his own taxidermist (with intentions to mount his own trophies and a few of his friends’ critters, not full time taxidermist). As you can see, he has an eye for this stuff. He still comes around a couple of days a week to mount his own trophies under my supervision and a little help. He really fits in around here and we love having him around, especially when he’s helping us sew up life-size bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mountain lions, and most important… it’s free labor! He did a phenomenal job on his sable, kudu, and bushbuck. Up next…. His trophy cape buffalo, all taken with bow.
