Does your pup need walked? I have availability at 1:30 and 5:15 today. Contact me and I will come walk your pup. I just ask that you please make the payment directly to Happy Little Rescue this morning so they can give Riley the help she needs.
I do dog walking mostly so I can give back. Every walk I do allows me the opportunity to be able to help animals in need like little Riley at Happy Little Rescue who is in need of emergency medical attention. I have made my donation, can you help too? If you have a little to spare please donate. Even $2 adds up to be a lot. Be sure to put Riley in the comments so they know to put this towards her funds. UPDATE from Happy Little Rescue ๐ข: Thank you so much. ๐
Donations have started trickling in for Riley, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up so quickly for her.
Sadly, Riley has passed, so there is no longer an urgent need for her emergency deposit.
Thank you for loving her, donating for her, sharing her post, and helping us try. To those who are asking, Stephanie arrived at the rescue this morning before 6 and noticed Riley didnโt get up and wasnโt doing well. The ER vet took great care of her to try and get her stable and determine how to care for her but she crossed rainbow bridge.
Rest easy, sweet Riley. ๐๐พ
Thank you to everyone who sent donations and well wishes. Sadly, Riley has passed ๐
This is the part of rescue nobody likes to see.
Especially us.
Because we love these animals. We save them. We care for them. We try so hard to make every decision the right one. And then something happens, and suddenly everything feels completely out of your control.
Little Riley is hurt, and all I want is for her to get better.
I want to be able to say yes to every test, every treatment, every possible thing that could help her, without my brain spinning over the cost. I want to have a big, comfortable medical fund sitting there so when emergencies happen, we can just pull from it and say, โDo everything you can.โ
But this morning, I was sitting at the emergency vet, staring at the lower end of the deposit estimate โ $2,400 โ with my eyeballs basically going in circles.
The last time I was at this emergency vet, I brought my own dog in. He was in a similar state, and he didnโt make it. So sitting there with Riley this morning felt heavy in a way I donโt really have words for.
I got a 6 AM phone call that pulled me out of bed on my kidsโ first day of summer break to handle this emergency. While I was at the vet, I was also trying to coordinate puppies getting to a school event in a couple of hours, calculate dewormer dosages to update staff so a foster could bring eight puppies and their mom in an hour.
And then there is the mom guilt.
Knowing my kids are going to wake up and wonder where I am.
This is rescue sometimes. It is messy and emotional and expensive and exhausting, and 99% of the time, everyone is okay โ until suddenly, someone isnโt.
Right now, we are asking for help for little Riley.
The emergency vet is giving us a couple of hours to gather the deposit so we can move forward with her care. We will share more details as we have them, but right now she needs treatment, and we need help making that happen.
Please donate directly to Happy Little Rescue and write Riley in the memo so we can make the payment to the vet immediately.
Thank you Kari, Melissa, Kathy, Julie, Brady, and Nicki.
Thank you for loving them with us, even during the hard parts. ๐๐พ
