Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue - DITR The mission of Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue is to find healthy, loving, lifelong homes for dogs already born into this world.

www.facebook.com/diamondsintheruffNC Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue is a group of volunteer dog lovers that rescue, provide sanctuary and ultimately re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. We are located in Goldsboro, North Carolina. 501c3 since April of 2007. We rescue dogs from our local animal shelter or off the streets and give them a chance to find a forever, loving home. We believe

in taking care of the existing dogs and puppies instead of supporting breeding that most often results in suffering and homeless animals.

Meet Sundance. AGAIN!

DITR rescued this sweet girl from the Wayne County Animal Shelter in 2013. Guessing she was about 1 at the time. She was surrendered by her family because she developed a head tilt.

DITR pulled her from the shelter and immediately took her to Berkeley Vet. It was determined that she had a simple ear infection and with medication she would be just fine. Once we got her cleared by the vet, it didn’t take long to find her a new family. Sundance was adopted in January of 2014.

May, 2026 - UNBELIEVABLY her family dumped her at the Cumberland County Animal Shelter last week at the age of 14! (After 12+ years!) They said it was because someone developed an allergy to her. So, we went and got her. Thank God for microchips!

This friendly girl needs a soft place to fall!!

The first two pictures are from 2013. She will be going to Berkeley Veterinary Clinic this week for her vet care. She is very overweight. She is friendly, sweet and needs a loving home where she can be loved for the rest of her days. She deserves that! How can anyone dump a dog at a high kill shelter after 12 years??
If you are interested in giving her a loving home, we will provide everything she needs. We just want her to be loved.

We could use help with her vet care expenses. If you would like to help Sundance, please send a check.

Adoption Update!

Our grumpy old man, Mozzi, is not grumpy anymore! He has fallen in love with his new Mom and his sister, Chloe. They love taking walks on the waterfront and going to Sea Paws. But who wouldn't love living in Morehead City!
Kathy adopted from us years ago and when her little Hope passed away, she was devastated. We let her take Mozzi on a trial basis with the understanding that Mozzi was a bit of a curmudgeon. 😂
It didn't take long before Mozzi fell in love with them. Mom said that Mozzi is a hot mess but they couldn't love him more.
Thank you, Kathy, for taking a chance on this old man! We're glad that he has helped heal your heart. DITR ❤️

Adoption Update!

This video says it all!
Baxter, the blonde one, was adopted from DITR in 2019. When his best friend passed away, Mom was on the search for another buddy for Baxter. He was lonely and didn't even want to go outside by himself.
So we tried a couple of dogs and found his perfect match.
Rosemary and her sister, Dandelion came from a hoarding situation when they were only 6 weeks old. Dandelion was adopted quickly but Rosemary had puppy strangles and it took a few months to get over that. It didn't take long to know that Rosemary was his perfect match.

Mom says, "They are great together. They play and romp in the house and walk the yard and chase leaves and birds outside. We take walks and it's so good to see Baxter happier. She has a ton of energy and when he gets tired he sits or lays on her to stop her for a minute. It's so funny!"

Thank you, Lynette, for always choosing rescue dogs!! DITR

Adoption Update!

It was love at first sight when a little girl saw Dandelion at an event. She went home and told her Mom. That was the beginning of a great adoption!
They named her Rosey Lion Leib. Mom says she is so social and loves attention. She has acclimated so well and is best friends with the rest of her pack, Jack and Rider. She's also an extended family member and goes to visit her grandparents! It sounds like a wonderful life!
Thank you, Leib Family, for letting her join your pack! DITR

We are so happy for this little girl!
Amber was found hit by a car on Thanksgiving Day. We are very thankful for all of you that donated for her care. Berkeley Veterinary Clinic took great care of her so she could be adopted. And a big thanks to Alice at Purrfect Hearts Cat Rescue in Wilson. She found a foster home for Amber. The foster Mom fell in love and couldn't let her go. It truly takes a village!
