Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue - DITR The mission of Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue is to find healthy, loving, lifelong homes for dogs already born into this world.

We are located in Goldsboro, North Carolina. 501c3 since April of 2007. We rescue dogs from our local animal shelter or off the streets and give them a chance to find a forever, loving home. We believe

in taking care of the existing dogs and puppies instead of supporting breeding that most often results in suffering and homeless animals.

Adoption Update!

Finn has found his Forever Home!
Mom says, "Finn is great! Spoiled rotten, but great! Finn is settling in to Cary just fine. We live close to Bond Park that has lots of trails and a lake so he enjoys lots of walks. He is still learning how to walk calmly past other doggies on leashes in the neighborhood but it's always because he's super excited and wants to play. He's made fast friends with the largest of his feline brother and sisters and they will work as a tag team to make sure no unattended food is left to waste😆. He's a tall, happy guy with a tail that can clear a coffee table in one sweep but he's such a sweetheart we just take it in stride. Finn has been a great addition to our family and we are looking forward to many years ahead."

Please keep your pets safe in this heat!

🚨HEATSTROKE ALERT🚨

🐾 Keeping our pets safe in the heat🐾

With summer temperatures on the rise, it’s crucial to remember that our pets are susceptible to heatstroke.

🐾Symptoms of Heatstroke🐾
• Excessive panting
•Drooling
•Reddened Gums
•Vomiting Or Diarrhea
•Staggering or weakness
•Seizures or collapse

🐾What to do if you suspect heatstroke🐾
• Move them to a cooler area immediately
• Offer them small amounts of water (Don’t force them to drink)
• Apply cool (not cold) water to their paws, ears, and groin area. You can also place them in front of a fan
•Seek veterinary attention, heatstroke is a medical emergency.

🐾Prevention is key🐾
•Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a few minutes with windows cracked
•Limit excercise during the hottest parts of the day
•Provide plenty of cool , fresh water
•Ensure access to shade outside

Adoption Update!

Abby Cadabby was the goofy, mischievous one from the Sesame Street litter. Still is! And her new Mom and Dad have fallen in love with her.

Dad says, "She was a handful at first, got into everything. A wonderful addition to our family! We only took her a few times to training, she picked up everything so fast she got bored. Smartest dog we ever had!"

Mom said, "Our sweet Abby is crazy and fun. She loves to travel, enjoys meeting new friends, 2 and 4 legged. She loves her bark box, watching Lucky Dog and playing in the water hose. She is smart and mischievous. We absolutely love her and can't wait to make more fun memories!"

Mozzi! He is such a funny character!
We need a foster or adopter for this senior boy. He is good with other dogs and good with cats. Neutered and up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention. He barks and may try to nip at strangers and may take a few days to trust. But once he loves you, he's good.
Mozzi loves his toys, loves to lay beside you on the couch and loves to take walks around the yard.
Mozzi is a 10 year old Shih Tzu, Yorkie mix and weighs about 17 lbs. And is in good health. If interested, put in an application on our website. www.DITRNC.com

Adoption Update!

Sassy Lady was part of a 6 month old litter of puppies that were abandoned on a country road. We took her into the program and it didn't take her long to find her forever home. Her mom and dad adore her and she goes everywhere with them including a two month trip to England.

Mom says, "You would be so proud of Sassy! She is a real international traveler. She's been to Paris (Charles Degaulle Airport) through the Euro Tunnel to England. She stayed in a 1616 Manor House, made friends with Icelandic horses and is now a 'narrowboat dog' on the inland canals of England. She was a little afraid to cross the Pontyscylte aqueduct on the Llangollen Canal in Wales. It's the highest and longest aqueduct in the world."

It's upwards and onwards for this girl! Thank you, Melody and James, for choosing to adopt! DITR
