🌿🐾 Calling all future wildlife rehabbers! 🐾🌿
Our last in-person North Country Wild Care meeting before September 2025 is coming up — and if you’re planning to take the August NYS Wildlife Rehabber License Exam, this is the meeting you don’t want to miss!
🗓️ Tuesday, June 17 | 7–9 PM
📍 South Glens Falls Fire Company – 361 Reynolds Rd, Fort Edward
Since NCWC doesn’t meet in July or August, this is your final chance before the exam to connect in person with experienced rehabbers, ask questions, and start building your network. We'll help guide you on how to prepare, what species to focus on, and how to hit the ground running once you get that license in hand! 📝🦉
🎯 Where we especially need new rehabbers:
🦝 RVS (Raccoons, Skunks, Bats)
– Requires a 2-year mentorship path – so the sooner you start, the better
– Must complete the 8-hour RVS course (offered at NYSWRC)
– Requires rabies pre-exposure vaccines (NCWC can help cover cost!)
🦆 Waterfowl (Ducks, Geese)
– Federal permit required (or rehab under a mentor’s license)
– Start logging hours with a mentor early
🐦 Songbirds
– Common intake, but feeding can be intense (every 15–30 min from dawn to dusk!)
– Federal permit needed (except for starlings, pigeons & house sparrows)
🐇 Bunnies
– High need! Easy to feed (2–3x a day), usually in care for only 4 weeks
– No additional licenses required
NCWC supports our members with basic supplies, meds, and even caging grants. Come see what we’re all about and how we can support your journey into wildlife rehabilitation.
Whether you’ve passed the exam, are planning to take it, or just want to learn more — we hope to see you there on Tuesday! 💚
