Matilda is a sweet, affectionate and playful 55 lb. 1-year-old possible Hound/Great Dane mix. Her very lucky foster gives her a solid 10 out of 10. Her foster family doesn’t know how she hasn’t been adopted already. Matilda is an exceptionally happy girl who listens well, housebroken and friendly with other pups, cats and strangers. She’s a total joy to foster and be around. She has a beautiful medium-large size with a graceful and leggy frame.

Matilda is that perfect blend of sweet, social, and easygoing. She fits right in wherever she goes, greets everyone like an old friend, and seems genuinely delighted to just be part of the action. She’s the kind of dog who makes fostering feel unfair because you immediately want to keep her.

🐾🐾🐾 FOSTERS NEEDED SATURDAY 6/27🐾🐾🐾

These dogs are at a holding facility in KY. That means their county does not have a shelter. When the holding facility is full (NOW) they will go to a neighboring county shelter TOMORROW. That shelter only has a few open spots right now which means the majority of these dogs will not make it out….UNLESS YOU step up and commit to fostering them!

They have all been dog tested and done well. We don’t have info on age/weight.

We have someone in Kentucky who is willing to hold them until our transport IF they have rescue commitment.

They NEED FOSTERS TO COMMIT NOW!!!

With committed fosters they can arrive Saturday morning 6/27 in Geneva.

Sage is a gentle 1-year-old German Shepherd male pup who is looking for a very special kind of home. He’s a sensitive soul who can be shy with new people and new situations, and he needs a patient, understanding family who will give him the time and space he needs to feel safe.

Sage does best in a calm, predictable environment where he isn’t rushed to “be brave.” Trust is something he builds slowly, but it is incredibly meaningful once earned. Having a confident, friendly resident dog in the home is required for Sage. Another dog helps him feel secure, shows him the ropes, and gives him the reassurance he needs to come out of his shell.

When Sage does trust you, he truly shines. He becomes loving, loyal, and deeply connected to his people, making him a wonderful companion for someone who understands that the best relationships are worth waiting for. His ideal family will celebrate small victories, move at his pace, and find joy in watching a shy puppy grow into a confident dog.

This post is a few days late. Sorry.

This past weekend, despite having a skeleton crew, we were able to provide transport for 134 pets in need from SE Kentucky. Much thanks to our fosters who continue to step up to help save lives, our rescue partners, the Kentucky Shelters and community, our transport intake team, drivers and all of the Geneva volunteers. It truly does take a village.

On Saturday, we went to Hazard KY to host a Hip to Snip clinic. We were able to fix 23 LARGE dogs and 39 cats. We, to date, HAVE NOT received any grant funding but are hopeful that we will receive some funding in 2026. It is such a desperate situation down there. We were able to do this clinic because of the generosity of Starfish foster and volunteer Jenny J who donated the cost of the medical team. Thousands of animals will not be born because of her. We are grateful. Special thanks to our veterinary team, Core Team, volunteers and Lori M who drove down with me to volunteer. Thank you to the armory staff and the community who are honestly so grateful for the clinics. I’m adding the donate button in case you might like to help.

My name is Ginny, and I’m a 1-1/2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix weighing about 57 lbs. I’m a sweet, smart, and playful girl who’s happiest when I have someone to share life’s adventures with.

I walk beautifully on a leash and enjoy going to new places, whether it’s walks, hikes, or even car rides. I do need a little help hopping into SUVs or trucks since they’re a bit tall for me. I love following my foster around the house so I don’t miss anything exciting, and I’m always curious about the world—especially airplanes overhead or interesting smells in the breeze.

Treat time is the best time—especially when it involves a frozen Kong with peanut butter or yogurt, or a good chew stick. I’m also very proud to say I learned crate training in just four days because I’m such a quick learner!

I’m dog-friendly and enjoy having canine playmates. Because I get the zoomies and love to run, I’ll do best in a home with a fenced yard where I can safely burn off energy. I haven’t been tested with cats yet, so my feelings about them are unknown.

Since I can get a little mouthy when I’m excited or want attention, I’d do best with an active family experienced with energetic dogs. Kids 8+ are recommended for the same reason.

🚨🚑EMERGENCY MEDICAL🚑🚨
And Foster Home needed ASAP

UPDATE: It’s way worse than we originally thought. Per our vet, the wounds were likely caused by chemical burn & definitely not from attack by another animal. Please donate if you are able to. These babies will be hospitalized until Friday being the earliest release.

Three kittens, 1.5lb at 6weeks old are currently at the vet being treated for wounds that were neglected & untreated after being attacked by a Tom Cat. We need a foster home immediately, where they recover from their injuries and get ready to be adopted. If you can foster, please email [email protected]. Buzz, the adorable 6-month-old Boston Terrier puppy that enjoys the company of people and other pups is looking for his forever family. Buzz not only has good looks and personality, but he’s also very smart! His foster has trained her therapy dog and special needs dogs and has worked a lot with Buzz. He knows many commands, including sit, down, touch and 1,2,3 and also has an amazing name recall and responds right away to Buzz. He knows the word “house” for his crate and potty outside. He started his training with positive reinforcement and a good duck jerky, but has moved on to just voice command.

Buzz enjoys chasing, wrestling and sunbathing in his foster’s fenced yard with the resident dogs. His forever family should know that he dreams of sneaking in bed with you to cuddle and plans to give lots of puppy kisses. He’s well behaved while his foster works from home and would love a family who can give him quite a bit of attention or socialization. He loves riding in the car and going on adventures.
