The Great Annie “Misterio”✨
Shay was a mystery- underweight upon arrival at Saving Grace, most likely had puppies and had been a stray for a long time, and yet clearly been someone’s pet—housebroken and well-mannered. She didn’t respond to basic commands like “Dinner?” or “Walk?” until a neighbor greeted her with “Hola, perrito,” and she lit up with excitement. Puzzle solved! She came from a Spanish-speaking home and is now bilingual!
Shay was everything I was looking for– the right age, size, and temperament. My only hesitation was her heartworm diagnosis—I worried about its severity, how treatment might impact her stamina, and whether she would make it through. With Saving Grace providing a straightforward treatment program at no cost to the adopter—and emphasizing preventive care—my fears were quickly put to rest. Treatment became routine, successful, and no longer scary.
👑Shay is thriving as the queen of a one-dog home, fully enjoying her toys without competition. She loves the outdoors, happily squeaking away while the crows answer back. She loves chasing a ball, something she couldn’t do during treatment. She’s settled into playful mornings and evenings, and is a champion napper during the day. -Peggy M
