At night and on the weekends CHUM cruises along with Dr. Fistein by his side (she fell in love and rescued him from the shelter); During the week he resides at the clinic as our office manager’s special assistant! Chum is an interesting mix, of Chinese Crested, Shizue, and some other stuff, a Super Mutt for sure!
Did you know Chum has his own clothing line? He does and would love to share it with all the dogs and cats that visit the clinic! We have Chum’s Chum bandanas and pet t-shirts as well as cool ties and other items. Purchases of these items are for a good cause, the donations benefit Sally’s Fund which helps homeless animals in need where possible.
Sally’s Fund came about a number of years ago when a sweet young pup came into the shelter that was hit by a car. Dr. Fistein felt if we could raise the funds she could be saved. She was named Mustang Sally, and a Go Fund Me page was started.
So many people were touched by her story they contributed, to the fund. Donations went over the amount needed for Sally; So those funds were set aside and were used to help other animals in need. There is more to the story if you want to check it out on our website about Sally’s Fund: https://animalclinic.com/sallys-fund/.

The Pirates Beach community lost a very special resident this week. She left behind a dog, two cats, and a hole in our hearts. Her dog has already found a home, but the kitties, Gizmo and Widget, need a new owner. They are female indoor spayed and vaccinated and have had regular checkups at The Cat Clinic, Galveston. we have spent time with these two. They are affectionate and loving and purr a lot and know how to behave around a litter box. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to adopt this bonded pair?

Meet Scout, a 3-year-old female German Shepard. She was surrendered to us from a family that had some health issues and could no longer keep her.
Scout is very sweet and a bit shy. She would do best by herself or with a male dog, cats are a maybe. A meet and greet would be the best place to start.
She is current on her vaccines and on our surgery schedule to be spayed; also sadly she has tested positive for heartworms, which is treatable and TAC will take care of that.

Interested? Call the clinic and ask for Bonnie to setup a Meet and Greet 409-763-6484.

The Animal Clinic on Galveston Island

The Animal Clinic was established in 1936 and is the oldest veterinary clinic on Galveston Island. It has been privately owned and operated since then and has received the Texas Heritage award from the TVMA. We set ourselves apart by offering exceptional veterinary care in a more relaxed, home-like setting. We offer a separate cat-only clinic right next door to our main building, where cats can receive the specialized treatment they deserve.

We can see the beach from our building and believe that this allows us to represent Galveston in the most appropriate way, in a historic house right on the beach. We work closely with the Galveston Island Humane Society and pride ourselves in the community service we provide, by helping animals in need. We treat dogs and cats, as well as exotics and small farm animals kept as pets. We emphasize disease prevention, offer on-site surgery and dental work, ultrasound, digital radiography, boarding and grooming.
