Itâs National Pet ID Week đž
đStorytime- Reunion â¤
In early 2025, our amazing local animal control brought in a dog that was found wandering. We scanned it for a microchip and luckily there was one! We looked up the chip number and we were stunned⌠it said the owner lived on the East Coast, 1,000 MILES AWAY! We called the number listed; it was her, Mom! She told us that her dog had been MISSING FOR YEARS! Because she had her information up to date, we were able to contact her and get her reunited with her baby! It was a beautiful day at Vet Associates!
If your pet ever got lost, would they find their way back to you?
Every year, countless pets go missingâand having proper identification can be the difference between a quick reunion or a heartbreaking loss. A collar tag with your current phone number is a great start, but a microchip can make all the difference. Itâs a simple, safe, and permanent way to ensure your pet can be identified no matter what.
Pet ID isnât just a precautionâitâs peace of mind. Emergencies happen. Gates get left open. Loud noises can spook even the calmest pets. Being prepared means giving your furry family member the best chance to come home.
Take a few minutes this week to:
â Check that your petâs ID tag is up to date
â Make sure microchip information is registered and current
â Consider adding a backup contact
It only takes a few minutesâbut it could save you days, weeks, or even the permanent loss of your pet.
They rely on you for everythingâincluding finding their way home. đśđą
