🌿🐾 Summer is the perfect time to enjoy your yard with your pets—but be aware that some common plants can be toxic to dogs. Hydrangeas, lilies, oleander, and other seasonal favorites may cause stomach upset or more serious health concerns if eaten.

Keep an eye on curious noses and paws, and contact your veterinarian if you suspect your dog has ingested a toxic plant. Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine! ☀️

Today we’re proud to celebrate Dr. Coppel and Dr. Durig at Galena Veterinary Care! 💙 Their dedication, skill, and compassion make a difference in every patient they see, and we are so grateful for the care they provide to our community’s pets and families.

At her first visit with us, Willow weighed just 19 pounds. Fast forward to today, and she's a healthy 76 pounds! 💜

It's always special to look back at puppy photos and see just how much our patients have grown. Willow has gone from a tiny pup to a beautiful young dog in what feels like the blink of an eye.

We love watching our patients grow up and being part of their journey every step of the way. 🐶

FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that weakens a cat’s immune system, making it harder to fight infections. It is often misunderstood, but cats with FIV can still live long, healthy, and happy lives with proper care. ❤️

FIV is spread mainly through deep bite wounds, which is why outdoor and unneutered cats are at higher risk. It is NOT spread easily through sharing food bowls, grooming, or cuddling, and it cannot infect humans or dogs.

Some cats may never show symptoms, while others can develop dental disease, weight loss, poor coat condition, frequent infections, or lethargy over time.

The best prevention includes:
🐾 Keeping cats indoors
🐾 Spaying/neutering
🐾 Regular veterinary care
🐾 Testing new cats before introducing them into the home

An FIV-positive diagnosis is not a reason to give up on a cat. With love, routine vet care, good nutrition, and a low-stress environment, many FIV+ cats thrive for years. 🐱

• Becoming less social or playful
