Chloe loves to stand on big rocks in the creek and fish for anything that moves under the water! Chloe is a mini poodle and this behavior is a perfect mix of genetic instinct and simple fun! Poodles were originally bred as water retrievers to hunt waterfowl. That means splashing, wading, and investigating the water is literally in their DNA. Poodles are naturally drawn to the water. Standing on a rock gives them the perfect vantage point to survey the creek, while the splashing and movement of minnows ignite their high prey drive. Mini poodles are remarkably smart and easily bored. Staring into the water, watching the shadows of the fish, and trying to catch them provides excellent mental stimulation. In general, dogs are highly tactile and explore the world with their paws and mouths. The slick, wet rocks and the challenge of fishing provide an exciting, ever-changing environment.
