Please travel the area slowly and call Dryden Dog Control at 607-882-5865 if seen. He is noted to be friendly with people, but may not be great with other dogs. Please contact Tompkins County SPCA if you have interest in adopting this sweet boy!

What type of medical care do senior pets get before they go up for adoption? Kane is a good example:

✅Bloodwork
✅Urinalysis
✅Dentalwork, including removing 10 damaged teeth
✅Fine needle aspiration of multiple masses (all benign, yay!)
✅Pain meds for his arthritis
✅Microchip
✅Basic vaccines, dewormer, and flea/tick prevention
✅Heartworm testing and prevention

That's a lot! But we want to help our adopters be prepared for life with their new friend, and not have to start that relationship with big bills.

If you can make a donation to help pay for this care: https://www.spcaonline.com/gifts we are incredibly grateful. Or if you are interested in adopting a pet, (senior or young!) see everyone looking for a new home: https://www.spcaonline.com/all-animals

Sarah Jayne Orton was a little girl who made a tremendous impact in a short amount of time.
Today, her family continues to honor her beautiful memory by raising funds to support local animal shelters while spreading vital awareness about sepsis through Sarah’s Cause.

Sarah was a little girl with a heart bigger than the world around her. Although her time here was far too short, her love continues to make a difference. Through her family’s dedication, her legacy lives on by helping animals in need and bringing awareness to a cause that touches so many lives.

This week, Sarah’s family visited the Dryden Dog Shelter, and other local shelters, bringing with them an incredibly generous donation of much needed supplies, along with a check to help cover veterinary care for the shelter dogs. Their kindness will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the animals in our care.
We are deeply grateful to Sarah’s family for including our shelter in their mission to honor Sarah’s memory. Their compassion is a beautiful reminder that even in the face of unimaginable loss, love can continue to grow, reach others, and change lives.

Thank you for allowing Sarah’s legacy to make a difference in the lives of the animals here at the Dryden Dog Shelter. Her impact continues to reach far beyond the time she was given, and we are honored to be part of that legacy.

Sarah’s photo hangs in the lobby of our shelter, serving as a daily reminder that we don't need a lifetime to make a difference.

This little gem is right in the heart of downtown Dryden! We absolutely love their food and coffee, and the staff is always so friendly and kind.
At the Dryden Dog Shelter, we want to remind our community that small businesses like The Corner Brew are exactly what make our town so great. As the holidays approach, we hope you’ll join us in supporting local! 🦁

Located on Dryden's busiest corner. The Corner Brew is Main Street's coffee shop & event space.

Abandoning pets is illegal.

At Dryden Dog Control, we want to make one thing absolutely clear: We do not take pet abandonment lightly, and we do not turn our heads.

It is incredibly unfair when responsible, good dog owners do the right thing every day, by paying their fees, following the rules, and accepting the fines or tickets that sometimes come with pet ownership, while others think they can just walk away. We will not bypass illegal actions. If you are caught abandoning a dog in Dryden, we will work diligently with the proper authorities to ensure that all legal actions are taken against you.

To our community: We need your eyes and ears.
If you witness someone dumping an animal, please do the right thing:
1. Ensure the animal’s immediate safety if it is safe for you to do so.
2. Get as much information as possible (license plate numbers, vehicle descriptions, photos, physical descriptions, time, and location).
3. Contact the authorities immediately.

There is always a better choice.
If you have a dog or a cat and can no longer care for it, your best course of action is to reach out for help. Reach out to shelters, rescues, or community resources.
Please, do not get a pet if you aren't ready to do the right thing by them. Let's work together to keep Dryden safe and humane for all our animals.
