❄️🌱Winter prep at Maggitti Farms!🌱❄️

❄️We're still planting lettuce and other baby greens before the weather turns!

❄️At this point in the season, we are planting for spring harvests, but it's good to always keep roots in the ground!

❄️Winter prep for us looks like;
-Harvesting and removing any remaining summer/fall crops.
-Broardforking to gently loosen the soil from below and offer oxygen to the microbiology.
-Broadcasting amendments specific to our soils needs.
-Spraying a mineral enhancing solution onto the soil surface.
-Gently Tilthing the top inch of soil and all of the additives together.
-Direct seeding or in this case transplanting head lettuces.

❄️This process can be time consuming, but after all, we are farming to restore health and balance to our soils microbiome and grow the healthiest food possible for our community!

🦃Join us for the Pre-Thanksgiving Farmers Markets!

🦃That's right, we will be vending at BOTH the Fredonia Farmers' Market and the Jamestown Farmers Market tomorrow!!

🦃 We'll be loaded up with the freshest possible produce for your family's Thanksgiving meals!

🦃Some staples we will have available tomorrow:
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Sweet Potatoes
- Winter squash
- Greens for salads and sauteé-ing

🦃We will be joined by quite a few other awesome farmers and artisan bakers and makers. You can likely find most of not all your holiday meal needs at one of these two farmers markets.

🦃Give thanks for the local abundance available to us and give the gift of delicious wholesome food to your family this holiday!

This is our first year growing a parthenocarpic variety of zucchini. This variety is called “maveric” released this year by Johnnys Seeds. I’ll be honest I had my doubts it would live up to its claim of being parthenocarpic but so far it’s producing strong flushes of fruit.

Hopefully we have more zucchini than we know what to do with this year!
