🌱💜 New Video from McPhetridge Family Farms 💜🌱

Today we’re continuing our Heirloom Planting Series by showing how we take purple sweet potato slips off the potatoes, prepare them for planting, and get them established in the ground.

These are organic Stokes purple sweet potatoes that we purchased from Sprouts and chose specifically because they have not been sprayed with chemicals.

Our goal with this series is to help families learn practical skills that lead to greater food security, self-sufficiency, and a deeper connection to where our food comes from.

Heirloom growing is about more than gardening — it’s about preserving knowledge and passing it on to the next generation.

We hope this video encourages you to try growing your own food right where you are. 🌱

We did a LOT of work securing the rabbit colony over the past few days. Now that we feel the cats can no longer get in or rabbits get out, we introduced rabbits back to the colony.

We’re kicking off part of our heirloom planting series by showing how to start purple sweet potato slips in soil!

These are organic Stokes purple sweet potatoes we picked up from Sprouts Farmers Market—not sprayed with chemicals and a great option for growing your own plants at home.

Our goal is simple: help families learn to grow their own food and become more self-sufficient.
