We're Hiring: Kennel Technician
Appalachian Animal Rescue Center (AARC) is looking for a compassionate, hardworking Kennel Technician to join our team!
If you love animals and aren't afraid of getting your hands dirty, this could be the perfect job for you. Every day is different, and you'll play a direct role in caring for homeless dogs and cats while helping them find loving homes.
Responsibilities:
Feed and water dogs and cats
Clean and disinfect kennels, cat rooms, and shelter areas
Walk dogs and provide daily enrichment
Monitor animal health and behavior and report concerns
Administer medications as directed
Wash laundry, dishes, and maintain a clean facility
Assist with animal intake, adoptions, and transports when needed
Provide excellent customer service to visitors, adopters, and volunteers
Work as part of a fast-paced team to ensure every animal receives outstanding care
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old
Reliable transportation
Able to lift 50 pounds or more
Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
Willing to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
Dependable, positive, and able to work independently
Previous animal care experience is a plus but not required—we will train the right person.
This is a physically demanding position that requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, cleaning, and working both indoors and outdoors.
