BIG NEWS: A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS FOR ANIMAL HOUSE
Dear Animal House Clients,
We hope that you had a wonderful holiday season. We appreciate your loyal support throughout the years. Our clients and their furbabies are what keep Animal House a thriving, successful business. Thank you!
Dr. Shower felt led by the Lord to start her own practice in 2012. Her goal was to provide a high standard of professional veterinary care in a down-to-earth hometown setting. Her focus as a veterinarian has always been to honor the Lord by caring for His creatures. We hope that the staff of Animal House has
always made you and your pets feel like part of an extended family -- seen, heard, and cared about.
As with all families, changes in dynamics occur as the various members face challenges and make decisions that ultimately affect the entire household. Many of you are aware that Dr. Showerâs husband, Bill, was diagnosed with cancer several years ago. As a result, the clinicâs business hours and Dr. Showerâs availability decreased. Despite the challenge of being her husbandâs primary caregiver, Dr. Shower continued to keep Animal Houseâs doors open with her tireless dedication to the clinic.
However, with the start of the new year, Dr. Shower has decided the time is right for her to retire. Since Billâs cancer diagnosis, the Showers have done some traveling and crossed some things off Billâs Bucket List, but as the cancer progresses, Dr. Shower wants to have the freedom to spend more quality time with Bill.
Do not panic! Dr. Shower has not sold out to corporate. She isnât closing the clinicâs doors. She made a promise to her clients years ago that when she retired, she would leave her people in good hands, choosing to sell to a local veterinarian who shared a similar vision of quality veterinary care. Dr. Jessica Scruggs, who is a mobile practitioner in Macon and surrounding counties, is purchasing Animal House. This will enable Dr. Scruggs to more conveniently provide medical care for small animals (dogs and cats)
as well as continuing her mobile service to farm animals. Dr. Shower and the original Animal House staff will stay on to help make the transition period smoother. A few new faces will be introduced, but the same level of care and concern for your pets will continue.
We ask for your patience as we embark upon this journey. Clinic hours and procedures may change as we figure everything out, but rest assured, we will do our best to make this experience a positive one. One of Dr. Showerâs favorite phrases is: âFamily first.â That includes each of YOU. You are the Animal House family. Everything we do here at the clinic involves you. We always consider what is in your best interest, as well as the staffâs.
That being said, we look forward to sharing this next chapter of Animal Houseâs history with you!
