Join us TOMORROW for Whiskers & Wheels Jeep Jam, a fun-filled community event hosted by Oakley’s Cause Inc., bringing together animal lovers and Jeep enthusiasts for a great cause.

All proceeds from this event directly support Oakley’s Cause Inc. and its mission to help animals living with cerebellar hypoplasia (CH).

This weekend we are bringing two cats, Chevy and Susan, who entered our program through Oakley’s Cause and their amazing advocacy. Chevy is being adopted but we still wanted everyone to be able to see how well he is doing! Chevy had some issues with not being able to walk and was dragging his hind legs when he was intaked. With the help of physical therapy and massages, he has still gained muscle in his legs and how walks without the support of a wheelchair. Susan was a recent intake from our partners in Muncie. Susan is a petite girl with suspected CH but also a potential prior head trauma. She has been settling in to her foster home! She is making amazing strides and is ready to be adopted!

Emergency Fundraiser for Chicharrone 🐾💔

We took in a sweet foster dog, Chicharrone, this week after he was found as a stray dragging his back legs and limping. We rushed him to the vet Wednesday, fearing a possible spinal injury. While his spine or legs didn’t have any breaks, the X-rays revealed something just as serious, stones lodged in his urethra. We still don’t know what is causing his legs to drag so we will need further testing and evaluation. However, what was found is a painful and dangerous condition that cannot wait. He is scheduled for an emergency cystotomy surgery on Monday to remove the stones and save his life.

Here’s the breakdown so far:
• 🩻 X-rays + bringing him up to date on vaccines: $348
• 🏥 Cystotomy surgery: $2,500

This was completely unexpected, but we are committed to giving him the care he deserves. As a foster-based rescue, expenses like this can be overwhelming, and we can’t do it alone.

Update: Unfortunately, Blink’s breathing got worse overnight even with treatment and Blink succumbed to his injuries. We are so sad by this update from his family. His final bill was $1603.

Update: Blink has a broken leg and air in his chest cavity. For what they’ve done and pulling the air from his chest is $1200. That’s with her taking him home tonight. Then she would go to her primary vet in the morning to figure out next steps.

A member of our community needs our help‼️

A very loved volunteer, who fosters for us regularly, had her dog hit by a car in her front yard tonight. She is at the emergency vet NIVES with Blink but she needs help. This is very unexpected and NIVES is costly. This baby needs medical care and we want to help her. Please help consider donating.

To our SCPRS family- we know you’ve seen the pleas for help, for donations, for foster homes, for adoption.. prayers.. everything. Unfortunately, people are abandoning their animals at ridiculous rates. We always do what we can but IT TAKES A VILLAGE! We have not been intaking as we have long term fosters that still need committed fosters or adopters first.

We need help from you. We need this post shared far and wide. We desperately need donations. We desperately need foster homes, especially if you can house a dog who isn’t friendly with other dogs (do you have a split floor plan?). We need adoptions.

Blair found an amazing adopter! 🩷

3 days left! 💔 😭 We need a miracle! 🙏

This is Blair💛 He is an alaskan husky that has been in foster for 943 days now. Blair is a good boy and he needs a forever home!! Blair's foster is relocating to another state on April 18th for work and cannot continue to foster this lovely boy. 😭

○ 3 years old, 68 lbs
○ good with cats and dogs
○ neutered and up to date on all vaccinations
○ crate trained, house trained, extremely good name/whistle recall
○ commands: sit, stay, [lay] down, back up, [get] off, crate, free (release), fetch/bring it, pick up (mostly with toys), leave it
Blair has visited a few national parks; loves to go on car rides. He recently joined a doggy daycare and has been loving it! They say is ready to go out and play all day! He loves a good squeaky ball, but hard chewtoys tend to last the longest. Obsessed with tug of war and fetch, but is always down to lay in bed all day, especially if its raining🌧

Blair has had very little interest and even had a failed adoption. In that situation they brought another dog home the same weekend and did not give either dog time to decompress. Unfortunately, that resulted in them bringing back Blair.

Nova is at NIVES emergency vet 😭

Nova was a curious girl tonight and got into some medications. She is acting okay right now thankfully but her primary vet suggested that she go in for activated charcoal. We are needing to raise $390 to help with her emergency vet care costs.

Arya need a foster or adopter ASAP 😭

Arya is heartbroken that her meet and greet didn’t show up. Arya came into rescue by mistake, as she came on transport and was not the dog that was pulled. We want to help find her a foster, adopter, or rescue so she does not have to return to the shelter. Arya is the SWEETEST! Someone on here needs to foster to adopt or adopt this girl ❤️
