Bullhooks are commonly used to "train" circus elephants. Bullhooks have a sharp metal hook on the end of the stick that's used to guide and discipline elephants. It can be used on sensitive areas of the elephant's body, such as the eyes, ears, feet, trunk, and around the mouth.

A handler can also hold the hooked end, and swing the handle like a baseball bat (as we have seen video footage of), inducing substantial pain.

Bullhooks have also been known to harm elephants psychologically and emotionally.

Animals need YOUR voice! Please email the Fort Wayne City Council to urge them to ban the use of animals in traveling circuses and shows.

It only takes a minute to speak for animals. Email [email protected]

In your email you can say:

“As a Fort Wayne resident, I urge you to please end the suffering of wild animals used in circuses and traveling acts by prohibiting their exploitation in our community. Six other Indiana communities have already passed laws banning wild animal acts. This ban would align Indiana with other states leading the nation in animal protection.”

This is the same practice that happens to circus elephants and why we should stop supporting circuses that use animals. Please watch and share this documentary with your friends & family and ask them to stop attending animal circuses.

These majestic creatures deserve our protection, not abuse!

THIS is just another reason why animals do NOT belong in the circus! We’re so thankful none of them were hurt. They were most likely heading to Fort Wayne.

A portion of Interstate 69 near Marion was closed early Saturday morning after a semi-trailer hauling animals caught fire.

While checking on the animals at the Shrine Circus last weekend, I spoke to a lady who told me "Don't try to put human feelings on them."

Feelings are not excluded to humans. Animals feel too. They feel sorrow, distress, happiness, and pain.

From PBS :

"Elephants are among the most exuberantly expressive of creatures. Joy, anger, grief, compassion, love; the finest emotions reside within these hulking masses. Through years of research, scientists have found that elephants are capable of complex thought and deep feeling ...the depth of elephant's emotional capacity knows no limit."

Yes, animals have emotions and feel pain.
