🚫✂️ Why You Should Never Shave a Double-Coated Dog ✂️🚫

We know it’s HOT out there, and it might seem like shaving your double-coated dog (like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, or Aussies) would help keep them cool—but don’t do it! 🙅‍♀️

🐶 Double-coated dogs have a built-in temperature control system! Their coat is made up of two layers:

➡️ The undercoat (soft, fluffy layer that insulates)

➡️ The topcoat (coarse guard hairs that protect from sunburn, bug bites, and heat)

💡 Shaving them can actually:

❌ Damage their coat permanently

❌ Disrupt their ability to regulate body temp

❌ Increase risk of sunburn and heatstroke

❌ Lead to patchy or uneven regrowth

Instead of shaving, we recommend:

✅ Regular deshedding and brushing

✅ A proper bath and blow out to remove dead undercoat

✅ Keeping them in the shade, with plenty of fresh water
