Before a storm is on the way, take time to prepare a pet evacuation kit with the essentials your pet may need if you have to leave quickly or shelter in place.

Pet hurricane kit checklist:
🐾 Food and water
🐾 Carrier and leash
🐾 Litter and litter box for cats
🐾 Medical and vaccination records
🐾 Medications, if needed
🐾 Comfort items to help reduce stress

If you plan to ride out the storm at home, make sure your pet is familiar with the area where you’ll take shelter. A little preparation now can make a stressful situation much safer later.

On sunny days, pavement can become much hotter than the air temperature and may cause painful paw pad burns within minutes.

Before walks, remember to:
