De-Shedding for Double-Coated Dogs

If you’ve ever found fur on your couch, your clothes, your food, your soul - you already know the struggle of double coat season. But here’s the good news: professional de-shedding treatments are a game changer, and your pup will thank you for it.

Double-coated dogs like German Shepard, Huskies, and Golden Retrievers have two layers of fur - a dense, soft undercoat beneath a protective outer coat. When that undercoat blows, it can feel never-ending.

At Wag Swag our de-shedding service includes:
- A deep de-shedding bath using high-quality shampoos and conditioners formulated to pe*****te and loosen undercoat.
- High velocity blow dryers to push that dead fur out before it ends up everywhere.
- Thorough brush-out to remove as much undercoat as possible.

We use professional-grade products that are gentle on your dog’s skin while doing the heavy lifting on that stubborn undercoat - the kind of results you just can’t get with an at-home brush session. Less shedding around your home. A happier, cooler, more comfortable pup - it’s a win for everyone :)

Puppy’s 1st Groom 🐾💟
That moment when you gain a new puppy’s trust.

There’s nothing quite like watching a nervous little pup relax and realize they’re safe - and that’s exactly what our introduction grooms are all about.

Bringing your puppy in for their first groom doesn’t have to be stressful (for them or you!) Our puppy grooms are specifically designed to ease them into the experience at their own pace. We focus on getting them comfortable with the sights, sounds, and sensations of the salon - the sound of the dryers, the feel of the table, the gentle touch of the clippers - before we ever worry about the full groom.

We want every visit to be a good memory, so that your puppy ends up loving the grooming table. Starting them young with positive experiences makes all the difference for a lifetime of happy grooms.

Good morning Wag Swag clients,

This is Justina. I wanted to take a moment to reassure everyone that I am not going anywhere anytime soon. While I do plan to transition to a part-time schedule sometime next year, this will be a gradual change—not a sudden departure.

I care deeply about my clients and your dogs, and I will always remain a part of Wag Swag—just in a smaller role in the future. We are NOT closing, and I will ALWAYS be here.

The same trusted team who has been caring for your dogs over the years will continue to be here. I have personally trained this team over the past four years, and they are highly skilled, experienced, and very familiar with your pets. As I begin to reduce my hours over time, please know that our commitment to providing the high-quality service you know and trust will remain unchanged.

If you have any concerns, please don’t assume the worst or cancel your appointment without speaking with us first—we are always happy to talk and answer any questions.

Thank you for your continued support—we truly appreciate you. If you’d like to help us spread the word, please consider sharing this post.

Warmly,
Justina

Hey Wag Swag Fam,

2026 is already starting out as a rough tick season. One of our local vets here in Fort Dodge has already reported nine cases of Lyme Disease! As the weather warms up, this is the time to make sure your dog is protected.

Here’s what to keep in mind this season:

Fleas and Ticks - These little pests become much more active in the spring and can quickly turn into a big problem. Regular preventative treatments from your veterinarian can keep your dog comfortable and itch-free. Talk to your vet about Lyme booster vaccines and make it a routine to check them from head to toe when they come in from outside (check yourself, too!)

Heartworm Prevention - Mosquitos carry heartworm, and just one bite can put your dog at risk. Staying consistent with prevention is key - make sure to have a Heartworm Test done early spring to start on a preventative, this is one of the most important things you can do for your dog’s health.

Check After Outdoor Time - After walks, hikes, or time in the yard, do a quick check for ticks - especially around the ears, paws, and under the collar. If you find a tick, remember NOT to squeeze it, as it can push toxic substance into your dog’s bloodstream. Use a Tick Twister or a pair of tweezers to remove the head and pincers completely, as they imbed their heads under the skin.

Our tick collection jar (it’s alcohol not water, we don’t let them live) is what we find on dogs that have come in for grooms!

Blink and they grow up 🥺🐾
From tiny fluff balls to full-grown beauties - still just as close as ever 💛

We cannot express our appreciation and gratitude to be blessed enough to do this every day. We have several dogs we have been grooming for years and it is a very special feeling to be apart of their lives through all its stages.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday! 😁 All smiles from this cutie. 🥰
