Trainer Sarah Lacy is a rider and competitor who pursues goals fiercely, and she is passionate about helping clients achieve their goals. We value a strong foundation and recognize the importance of making horses and riders well-rounded athletes, and the number one priority is always safety. Fully insured, we travel throughout Fort Collins and surrounding areas- however, we train at our beloved home in east Fort Collins as much as possible!

And because I was lucky enough to ride not one but two special chestnut thoroughbreds at ’s mini trial earlier in June, here are some adorable Copper photos 🤩

Copper has a lot of good training under his belt, but has had inconsistent work the past several year and we’ve been working hard on his fitness since he joined Apollo Equestrian. He had just started jumping but I wanted to take him to Sunrise for practice in a show environment, and he crushed the “log and cross rail Olympics!”

He’s a “lesson horse in training” and I have no doubt students will LOVE him. I literally can’t help but smile riding this horse- seriously look at my face 🤣

Our team had a fun and productive day at the Redefined mini trial yesterday, all three special chestnuts finishing on their dressage scores and in the ribbons!

Emily and Vinny finished third in starter, both knocking off some dust in their first three phase together and their first three phase separately in some years! I love this horse so, so, much and watching someone who enjoys him so much pilot him around, ears pricked for every jump brings me a lot of joy ❤️ Thank you Vinny for being fantastic and Emily for being a great partner for this deserving horse, who has been loved by so many. I hope Arc is watching his big brother, who balanced being brave and being careful so well.

Copper marched around Tadpole with very little help from me, and is ready to do more next time! He has been a joy to ride and have in the barn and I’m so grateful to be connected to this special boy. He also finished on his dressage score in second!

Arc and I finished on our dressage score in first place at starter! It was not our best dressage score, and we have a lot of homework (all at the canter, apparently) but as the judge said, there were “great moments!” Stadium’s twisty turny course was a challenge, but he’s learning to be more careful and care about the smaller jumps, and I’m grateful for that progress! XC was a blast,he was an airplane, and I’m sure at some point it will start to feel harder for us but for now, I’m grateful to be able to smile and enjoy the ride!

Thank you to Daina and her team for an awesome show experience, we had so much fun. I love the supportive learning environment- you have something special! And thank you to Cayla Stone for the help me and encouraging me in my warm up!

You don’t have to compete to be here 😉

While some of our team is having so much fun competing, attending clinics and schooling off property at a variety of venues, most of our riders don’t have competitive aspirations, and are at “home” enjoying horses and working to improve.

Showing is not (and never will be) a requirement here. It is important to me that Apollo Equestrian remain a safe and supportive space for riders of a wade range of experience and aspirations!

If showing sounds like fun we’d love to have you, but if you’re new to horses, just returning to horses, or simply have no interest in showing, we’d ALSO love to have you ❤️

There are not very many riders that go so swiftly from small logs to “Yeah. I can jump BN.”

So full of pride for this pair. Jess has worked HARD for this ❤️

Also Bella would like everyone to know XC is the best. Why didn’t someone tell her that we could have been running and jumping out in a field this whole time?!

Our team had a good day at the Sunrise Mini Trial!

Emma and Tao finished fourth adding just four point to their dressage score- good job Emma! They have some homework (don’t we all!) but I’m very pleased with both of them today. They’ve shown good progress since their last outing!

Rhiannon and Rawnee came out for a show jumping round and had a spooky moment that resulted in a refusal, but this round was much improved over last time, and I’m really proud of them both!

Arc and I had some good moments and also have lots of homework in dressage. In stadium, a spook took down an entire jump, leaving no good line to the next one, so I decided to take the TE and continue to ride the rest of the course rather than set him up for a bad line. We went on to have a fun and confidence building XC round and mixed in starter and BN jumps- he was an airplane, as usual. This is why schooling shows are great!

Michael had his first outing for a dressage test- the atmosphere was A LOT for him which resulted in a poor dressage score, so he has signed himself up for some field trips! This horse has been through a lot in the past six months, so I’m just glad to be able to finally have him out in public doing the things. As many are aware, Michael had a serious heel bulb injury in January. The fact that he was able to come on this adventure at all makes me so happy!

Copper gets an A+ today! He finished second on his dressage score, and was an absolute joy to ride. We still have some work to do in the strength building department, but I’m very pleased with this first outing for a lesson horse in training. And I loved seeing his fan club from Sunrise cheer him on!

Huge thanks to Lily and Megan for being superstar grooms- I literally couldn’t have ridden all those horses without you! Thank you to Lynne as well for making my horses’ manes so perfect!

Thank you to the entire Sunrise team for putting together a great day, especially for sticking with us in the heat.

And of course- thank you to Cara and the entire GreenAcres and Apollo Equestrian teams for making it possible for me to chase these dreams!
