We needed to shave down an Angora this weekend, and one during the week. While Angoras have beautiful long coats, they require frequent and consistent brushing. It is all too common they come in seriously matted down to the skin and needing to be shaved. And with all this hair, it doesn’t take long to become a problem. If you or someone you know has an Angora remember:

Brush frequently. Wide metal toothed combs and slicker brushes are useful. Use with care as the skin is sensitive.

Be sure to brush down to the skin (gently) to avoid matting at the base of the fur.

True Angora coats can be blown with a cool blower to separate webbing and minimize brushing.

Trim or remove knots as they form. They will only grow bigger. The metal toothed comb works well for this. Be gentle.

Watch out for matting on the feet, legs, ankles, and pads on the feet.

Don’t wait if it gets out of control! Serious matting (like sheet matting) is very stressful for the rabbit and uncomfortable, even painful.

We are here to help, guide, teach, and even learn with you! Do any of you Angora owners have other tips to share? We would love to hear them!

Foster for Military Family:

A military family is looking for a possibly long term temporary foster for this adorable couple, Bruce and Babs. They have had to move into base housing while their house sells, and no rabbits are allowed! But they love these little guys. They have all their setup provided, they are litter trained, and sweet as can be. If you could possibly help them out with a safe INDOOR living space, please contact me. Thank you!

Our two new boys joining us from Moss Pt, Mississippi. It breaks my heart how these precious animals get tossed outside to fend for themselves as soon as they are not "cute" and "little".

Another Day.........Another Spay!!

The after Easter dump is no joke! We have 7 rabbits currently at the vet office in Gulfport, Mississippi getting spayed and neutered. 4 rabbits have been picked up just this last week. And 2 more abandoned domestic rabbits are being picked up on our trip home through Mississippi 😔 That's 6 IN ONE WEEK!!!

We are ever so thankful for the foster parents stepping up. You guys are AMAZING! We kindly ask, could anyone help support us in food, hay, bedding, or spay/neuter costs? No amount is too small. Easter is an overwhelming time of year for rabbit rescues, and we just can't let these little guys be left in the wild.

Thank you so much for your support! And as always, PLEASE share ❤️

We are a 501c3 non-profit charity.

Welcome to the Rabbit House!!

Everyone meet Teddy......We had an emergency surrender come in late last night. A gentleman called in the afternoon, trying to help a friend in need. Moving ASAP. Must go. A 6 year old male lion head. Sounded urgent. He drove over an hour over to drop him off. Then we learned Teddy was a happy, loved, free roaming rabbit that got caught up in domestic abuse. The owner had to flee quickly. Teddy almost got "freed" outside. Thankfully this friend stepped in and found him a safe home. Can't imagine the emotional toil for Teddy and his dear owner. My heart goes out to them both. But I'm thankful we are here to help in a small way for her. A huge way for Teddy. Welcome to the Rabbit House Teddy!

Spring is HERE at the Rabbit House. And they all love a little rose treat!

If you are looking to for something to grow, knockout roses are wonderful. They are fast growing, produce tons of flowers, and bloom almost year round. They require zero pesticides, so the bunnies get healthy treats every few days. They love it!!
