Talk about the best day EVER… 🎨🐴

Day 1 of our very first Art of Horsemanship Camp is officially complete!

We kicked off the day by grooming, tacking up, and riding our horses, followed by some fun games on horseback. Then our lovely retired lesson horse, Bacon, was our model for an art lesson on horse anatomy and gesture drawing. The campers filled their sketchbooks while learning how to capture a horse’s movement and form.

After lunch, everyone chose their favorite horse to sketch and began working on their paintings. We spent the afternoon creating, painting, and soaking up time with our equine partners!

I am absolutely blown away by the talent, creativity, and enthusiasm in this group. It was such a joy to spend the day loving on our horses and making art with these amazing kiddos ♥️

I already can’t wait to see what we create tomorrow!

We had such a fun time at Barn Chores today learning how to clip a horse!

Our sweet lesson horse, Teddy, has Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (commonly called Cushing’s disease), which can cause horses to grow an abnormally long, thick hair coat and make it difficult for them to shed properly. Because that extra hair can make it harder for him to stay cool during our Texas summers, we give him a summer clip to help keep him comfortable.

These girls did an amazing job learning about horse health, handling clippers safely, and helping care for one of our favorite barn buddies. So proud of their willingness to learn and jump right in to help! ❤️🐴

Our first Cowboys & Cowgirls Camp of the summer is complete! 🤠🐴

We had so much fun this week and are so thankful for our amazing campers, wonderful camp helpers, and of course our fabulous horses who made it all possible for these kiddos. 🤍

I hope everyone has been enjoying their break! Due to a death in my family, we will need to extend our lesson break by just a couple more days and will not be holding lessons this upcoming Saturday.

We will be back and kicking off summer with our first Cowboys & Cowgirls Camp on Monday 6/8!

Thank you all so much for your patience, kindness, and understanding during this time. I am working on getting caught up on scheduling, texts, emails, and phone calls this week and truly appreciate everyone’s grace as I do.

We will be holding our Summer Camp Counselor Training this Wednesday from 5:00–7:00 PM! This is a great opportunity to learn more about horses, develop leadership skills, and gain valuable experience working with children in a fun barn environment. No horse experience required!
