We had a great time walking in the Fenton Jinglefest parade tonight! Rey walked with us which was a HUGE test for her. She did a fantastic job ignoring the highest level of distraction you can find, wasn’t phased by the loud noise, and maintained her loose leash heel while handing out treats to other dog families in the crowd. Huge accomplishment for this social butterfly!

We took Rey to Home Depot to work on her self control and leash manners in public. She’s making a ton of progress with her public training!

Nana made some great improvement today at Day Train. We started adding distractions and worked her without her muzzle in the front of the building. She did fantastic ignoring distractions and did not react to any of her typical triggers.

Puppy Day Camp puppies had a great week!

Rowdy worked on learning the place concept, as well as marker training. He lives up to his name!

Remi worked on his recall using a long line in the training room. This was hard work with so many other dogs as distraction.

Guapo is going to need grooming his whole life being a poodle. He worked on grooming by getting a nail trim and brush out.

Maverick started his first week establishing a relationship with his trainers and working on place.

Jax, Rayna and Buddy worked on holding their sit and down positions for longer duration.

We took our Day Train field trip dogs to Magoos Pet Outlet today!

Benji and refresh Monroe both took turns working for one of our junior handlers, and did a great job ignoring distractions and maintaining leash manners.

We’d like to introduce Maverick! He joined our Puppy Day Camp program today. He is VERY mouthy with his family and getting worse. He also struggles with meet and greets with people and other dogs. He’s here to get a jumpstart on structure and foundations, so he can go onto adult training soon for more reliability around distractions. He’s already a BIG boy, and going to get even bigger!

We’d like to welcome Kai to our Day Train program!

Kai is new to his family and needs to learn basic obedience and follow through. He is highly reactive to other dogs, mostly because he doesn’t know how to properly say hello. And in typical shepherd fashion, he doesn’t like being separated from his people and has a lot to say when it happens!

We’re looking forward to giving this boy an outlet for his energy, helping his family better manage his big feelings and busy personality, and watching him grow into a model k9 citizen.

Day Train foundation dogs doing well today!

Missy worked on establishing a relationship with her trainer, and learned the place concept.

Alfie and Leo both started distraction training today, so they worked together in the front of the building on their leash and obedience skills.

We took a field trip with Evie and Tucker to the pet store!

Evie doesn’t care for other dogs, but Tucker is highly fearful of his environment and finds comfort and confidence from other dogs. So we took them together on this trip, to test Evie but also to help Tucker on his first public outing.

Both dogs did very well in the store, working on leash walking as well as their sit/stay + recalls down the aisles.

We’d like to welcome Missy to our Day Train program!

Missy deals a bit with low confidence and anxious behavior. She sometimes resource guards food from the other dog in the house, and when meeting other dogs she barks like crazy which can give off the wrong impression to new dogs.
