Good morning from Dottie, Bertie and Bindy 😍

Our two sickest babies (Dottie and Bertie) were able to go back home to their foster mom last night. Bindy was very fortunate to almost completely avoid symptoms, with only a very short lived tummy ache. Many, many thanks to our veterinary team, and the power of modern medicine. The immunoglobulin antibodies have made such a life changing difference in Parvo treatment efficacy.

**All three babies still must be quarantined away from other dogs for now.

🛑 ***URGENT UPDATE!!! 🛑
Two of the babies have broke with Parvo. All three are being checked into the vet for hospitalization/quarantine. Donations are needed ASAP! This is completely unexpected, and the bill is going to be huge. If you can donate via PayPal or Zelle, please do. You can also call into the clinic when they open up again tomorrow morning.
Keep them in your thoughts and prayers. 💜

💜 Update Two: Bindy (the asymptomatic girly) was examined, given antibodies as preventative and sent home to quarantine.
Paws crossed she remains symptom free now. 💜💜

Last Friday, these three puppies, along with their mama, were brought to the Hoke County Animal Shelter to be surrendered by their owner. Since they did not have appropriate documentation, they were asked to return home to obtain proof of residency before the shelter could accept their dogs. Instead of doing so, they decided to DUMP ALL FOUR OF THEM on the side of Golf Course Road, where witnesses reported seeing them push the animals out of their vehicle along a very busy stretch of road. 😢 Thank goodness the homeowner and animal control were able to secure the pups and mama pretty quickly, but they were obviously, and understandably quite traumatized.

Now that the stray hold has been completed (as required by law since they weren't *technically* surrendered), these three little ones are under our care. They were covered in fleas and super shut down at first, but we're already starting to see their beautiful personalities shine through a little more each day.

**Now before anyone gets riled up- we offered to pull Mama too, but another rescue had already spoken for her, so she is also safe. Should anything fall through with Mama's rescue, we will absolutely take her as well. No Mama's Left Behind!

We haven't named the babies just yet, but there are two girls and one boy. They will need to be seen by the vet ASAP to get checked out and get their vaccines started, and spay/neuter surgeries scheduled. Donations would be super appreciated to help cover some of the cost of their care! Links to donate are in the comments, as well as in our bio.

We want to be super clear:
This is NOT how you handle a situation involving animals who depend on you. Being a responsible pet owner means doing the right thing, even when it is inconvenient-- EVEN while actively pursuing surrendering your pets at a shelter. Abandoning animals is a crime, and it puts everyone in danger- from the dogs themselves, to the public in general. There are SO MANY resources out there to help people keep their pets, as well as to help people responsibly rehome them if keeping a pet is no longer an option. Times are tough. We get that. But this is never excusable...

Meet the Avatar Kitten Crew!

They are ready to meet their new families - so let's introduce them to you once again 😉

Azula is the biggest girl in the kitten crew, and apparently, she believes that means she has the biggest appetite to match. This girl LOVES food. Everything about it. The smell, the taste, the general concept of meals. A bowl that's half full? You mean half empty. And clearly, that is an emergency requiring immediate human intervention. Please correct this unacceptable situation before further notice.

When she's not busy overseeing the food situation, Azula enjoys rubbing against your legs, climbing the cat tower with her kitty friends, and engaging in some serious toy wand shenanigans. She's also a fan of belly scratches, which is a pretty great bonus for anyone lucky enough to earn her affection.

Although Azula is an outgoing girl once she gets to know you, she's not necessarily going to show you her entire personality the second you walk through the door. She likes to take a little time to warm up and make sure you're someone she can trust. But once you're in? You've got a friendly, playful girl who enjoys being part of the action and spending time with her people.

Azula has a big personality, a big heart, and an appetite that suggests she's preparing for winter hibernation. If you're looking for a sweet girl who will keep you company, entertain you with her antics, and make sure you never forget when it's dinnertime, Azula might just be your girl.
