I want to thank everyone for their grace at the grooming studio today. It was a dark day for Evergreen.

I want to hold in prayer every student who felt the very real threat to their life today, the students wounded in this tragic act, and the parents who experienced the shock of this news and the heavy dread of uncertainty, longing to reach their children in what seemed like a never ending afternoon.

I was one of those mothers racing to be with my son, relieved and thankful that he was physically unharmed, struggling to absorb the gravity of the situation, the realness of every parents’ most horrific nightmare, the pain and suffering of the victims of today’s violence.

The realness came as a flood of concerned texts from friends, from clients, from the community. The realness of the shrieking of a hudred sirens on the road you travel every day. The realness is realizing these mothers and fathers racing in a panic to reunite with and hold their children close are your hairdressers, bank tellers, soccer mom friends, the random people you’ve smiled at while walking the dog, the people you chat up in the Starbucks line, your clients, your local service providers. This isn’t another news story, we’ve come to accept, this is three dimensional, front row seating to a horror show. The realness is when you can feel the shift in real time, feel the tension across every face you pass on your way with the same single goal: make my child safe.

My son literally ran for his life today, like so many others exploding out of the building, scattering across school grounds and dispersing into the woods and neighborhoods. For my son, this was his new school and new chapter, first month in. My heart is breaking tonight. I am grateful for the strength of our community and I choose to keep believing in the inherent goodness of people, even in the darkness of today.

May you all find peace as you navigate your own version of the realness of today’s tragedy. My heart is with you.

Our story

Canine Culture Grooming Studio is a true testament to hard work, education, dedication and perseverance. Established in 2011, our journey to success began as a short-lived mobile grooming business model. We relocated to a residential setting 2 years later so that I could raise and homeschool my two young children while still pursuing my life-long passion of expert dog grooming. It wasn’t until April of 2019 that Canine Culture finally moved to its present location on Evergreen Parkway, behind our favorite Veterinary Hospital. How did I get so lucky? Through fierce persistence in the face of hardships, through personal sacrifice and total devotion to my beloved industry. Canine Culture exists because the canine community had supported my efforts and urged me through all my business changes. Because the canine community recognized the difference in the service I’ve strived to provide over the years through national certification, continuing education and through grooming competition. Because dog grooming deserves to be recognized as a professional service and an art form, and because clients trust my commitment to upholding a standard of excellence within the service industry that I love. Canine Culture is home to my 22 years of grooming experience and I’m confident that it will be your preferred grooming destination as well.
