Making my normal night checks is one of my favorite times of day.

The barns quiet, horses are all put away and munching hay. It’s so peaceful ❤️

It’s a roller coaster for sure! Especially when all you have to ride is youngsters 😂

I think young horses can be disheartening, even when you know what you’re signing up for.

You can have good days on top of good days and all of the sudden one massively bad day, making you question everything.

Or, you can have bad days on top of bad days and wonder what the holy heck you got yourself into, and then have a mediocre day that makes you feel on top of the world.

Young horses are not for everyone. Their growth, improvement, and education is not linear. Amidst feelings of elation and success you will also feel incapable, fear, failure, and disappointment - usually in yourself.

I think it’s easy to see the highlight reels shared on social media, trainers pages, etc and convince yourself that a young, green horse that you can learn and grow with will be nothing short of a magical experience. And while I don’t want to take away from the magical moments, I do want to share that the reality is a roller coaster and it takes a lot of humbling experience to go the distance with a young horse.

Kit had her eval with classic equine last week and it went really well! This girl has been on stall rest for 7 months and still has the best head on her shoulders. She is traveling sound and we can start hand walking and working up to riding later this summer with the end goal that by October we are ready to go and done with rehab! We still have a long road ahead but it was such a relief to hear and now we have a plan and an end date in site of when she can be back in full swing! I am beyond ecstatic but also cautious because I know we have a long road ahead this summer but we have given her everything we got and we aren’t stopping now!

Sneak peak!

We have a nice 2 yr old registered paint gelding in on consignment! He will make a fun summer project for someone!
