Grooming is hard. It's not for the faint of heart. We most certainly do not play with puppies all day. But, it's also rewarding. We have pets that come in on normal grooming schedules that can't wait to spend time with us. These pets run through the gate, love on us and get down to business. Does every pet show such enthusiasm.....no. Some pets are scared, possibly having a bad day or quite frankly, doesn't enjoy the grooming process. We accept that and try our best to keep your pets comfortable, calm and most importantly, SAFE. Safely is our number one priority in the grooming salon.
Here comes the hard part. Do we continue with a groom when pets are having a bad day?? That depends. Are they showing signs of stress? That's an automatic stop for me. I WILL NOT stress anyones pet intentionally. A cute haircut isn't worth stressing any animal.
Is your pet showing signs of aggression? Well, I can handle a few scratches and attempted bites. But if the aggression continues, we stop. Our safety has to be considered. We have families waiting at home for us. Getting bit in the face or having our hands injured isn't something Im willing to chance.
If your pet is having a full on meltdown. They get sent home and we try another day. Yes, we send dogs home. Probably more than other groomers. But we do it for your pets safety. We do it because we care about your pets. And that won't stop. Even if clients get upset that their pets didn't receive a requested service.
We accomplish a lot of grooms every week. We enjoy our job and it really does bring us joy and a sense of pride. But we have to ultimately make the best decisions for each animal that comes through our door. Whether that makes a client happy or not. Animals safety and comfort will always be my number one priority. If you don't accept those terms, I may not be the groomer for you. But for the clients that are willing to work with us through difficult grooms, we appreciate you. So very much.
