The Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1957. We receive no tax-based funding whatsoever and we are not affiliated in any way with the Humane Society of the United States. Therefore, we depend solely on the generosity of the corporate community and the public at large to continue, and hopefully expand, the much-needed services we offer. Located in E

vansville, Indiana, we serve more than 11,000 pets and their families each year through a variety of programs. We are a founding member of EPAW, the Evansville Partnership for Animal Welfare, launched in 2013.

🌟 Help Find Homes for Our Hurricane Survivors!

Last October, we answered the urgent call to assist Florida shelters overwhelmed by animals displaced by Hurricane Milton. Thanks to community support and compassion, we were able to welcome 15 cats and 21 dogs into our care.

While many have found loving families, there are still 3 amazing animals waiting for their chance at a forever home. These resilient pets have endured so much, and they’re eager to find a place where they can feel safe and loved. 🏠💕
