🐾 A tired dog isn't always a calm dog... but a fulfilled dog often is.🐾

These two camp pups spent their day working their brains, practicing obedience, solving enrichment challenges, and learning how to make good choices. The result? Two happy dogs catching some well-earned rest on the couch. 😴

One thing we teach at The Retreat is that calmness is a skill. Dogs aren't born knowing how to relax in your living room, settle while the family is busy, or quietly coexist in the home. Those are behaviors that need to be taught and practiced.

Just as important, though, is helping dogs meet their physical and mental needs first. Training, structure, problem-solving, and enrichment all help create a dog that is capable of settling down and relaxing.

And yes—the couch is invite only. 😉 We want dogs to learn that access to the things they value comes through good choices and manners.

That's why we created The Retreat's immersive training environment. We don't just teach obedience commands—we practice real-life house manners in a simulated home setting, complete with couches, distractions, and all the things dogs encounter every day.

Because the goal isn't just a dog that can sit when asked. It's a dog that knows how to be calm, relaxed, and enjoyable to live with. ❤️🐾

🌼 Tiny but mighty 🌼

Miss Clementine — aka Tiny — wrapping up her first week at camp and has been such a good girl 💛

With a new baby joining the family soon, Tiny is here to practice calm leash walks, stroller skills, and all the good-girl manners she’ll need to help make the transition smooth at home 👶🐾

She’s already showing us how smart and sweet she is, and we’re so excited to keep building her confidence and skills over the next week ✨🐶

We’ve got THREE new pups joining us at the Retreat this week 🐾

First up is Sophie 💕
This tiny little Dachshund is here to work on potty training and all the usual puppy basics. She may be small, but she’s full of s***k and personality already. Sweet, sassy, and keeping us on our toes in the best way.

Next is Cash ⚡
This high-energy Australian Shepherd is here for potty training and all the puppy essentials too. He’s super friendly, loves to play, and is always ready to go, go, go. We’ll be helping him channel all that puppy energy into better habits and manners.

And finally, meet Auggie 🎾
Auggie is a 3-year-old American Pit mix here to work on dog reactivity, confidence around new people, leash skills, manners, and all the good boy basics. This sweet, shy guy absolutely LOVES chasing a tennis ball and gets the best zoomies once he starts feeling comfortable.

All three are settling in great so far, and we’re excited to help each of them build confidence, structure, and better habits during their stay 🐶

At The Training Retreat, we talk a lot about enrichment for dogs — because mental stimulation, curiosity, movement, and choice matter just as much as exercise. But honestly? Enrichment matters for everyone.

Our two resident cats are a perfect reminder of that. Leslie is OBSESSED with her bouncing toy and will happily launch herself across the room chasing it like it’s her life’s purpose. Ron prefers a slower pace — stroller rides outside where he can safely explore the world, take in the sights, and satisfy his endless curiosity.

Different personalities. Different needs. Same goal: giving them opportunities to engage with the world in ways that make them feel happy, confident, and fulfilled.

That’s a huge part of what we believe in here. Whether it’s dogs, cats, or humans — enrichment isn’t extra. It’s quality of life. ❤️

Welcome to the Retreat, Gunner 🐾

Sweet boy Gunner is here for some adolescent life coaching 😅
It’s a tough stage—part puppy brain, part growing up, and sometimes those two things don’t exactly work together.

During his stay we’ll be working on:
• Socialization
• Leash walking
• Crate training
• Building better habits and overall good boy manners

So far, he’s doing great and really trying his best. He’s a fun, sweet dog with a lot of potential, and we’re excited to help guide him through this goofy teenage phase.

Stay tuned for Gunner’s progress this week 💙

This is Bodhi — and yes, he was so excited to play ball he climbed right into the box of tennis balls 😂🎾

It’s funny… but it’s also a perfect example of why structured play matters.

That kind of drive is exactly what you want—but without direction, it can turn into chaos. With the right structure, it turns into focus, engagement, and a dog who knows how to channel all that energy.

For high-energy dogs like Bodhi, play isn’t just about burning energy. It’s about:
• Learning impulse control
• Engaging their brain, not just their body
• Building focus and responsiveness

Even something as simple as fetch can become real training—waiting for the release, bringing the ball back, and resetting calmly for the next rep.

Don’t just throw the ball—use it with purpose.

🐾 First Week Camp Update! 🐾

We’ve got two special boys settling in for their 3-week stay, and we’re already so proud of them 💙

Meet Spencer— this sweet guy is navigating a big life change with a new baby at home 👶🐶 He’s a little nervous and still figuring out how to manage his excitement (those jumps can sneak up fast!). Our focus with Spencer is helping him relax, build calm manners, and learn how to peacefully coexist with his growing family. He’s already starting to understand that “chill” can be pretty great 😌

And then there’s Max — an absolute sweetheart with a sensitive side 💛 Max struggles with confidence and gets pretty anxious when left alone. He’s also working through leash pulling, barking, and some over-the-top greetings. We’re helping him build trust, confidence, and better manners so he can feel secure and succeed in everyday life.

Both boys are off to a solid start, and we can’t wait to watch their progress over the next few weeks! Stay tuned for updates 🙌🐕

Agent Cooper Update 🐾

Cooper has been putting in some solid work this week and it’s really starting to come together 👏

We’ve been focusing on leash walking and basic obedience—sit, stay, and building that engagement in low-distraction environments. He’s starting to understand the expectations and is making great progress.

Tomorrow is a big step… field trip day 🌎
We’ll be taking everything he’s learned and applying it out in the real world—new sights, new distractions, and a chance to build real confidence.

Stay tuned… he’s ready for it 💪

Baby Huey Update – Week 2 🐾

We’re rolling into week two of Puppy Camp with Huey and continuing to build on a strong foundation—lots of structure, obedience work, and enrichment each day.

Today we took those skills out into the real world and spent some time on the dog-friendly patio at Stockwell. Since he’s clearly destined to be part of the social scene, it’s only fair he learns how to handle it like a pro 😉

Huey greeted people and dogs politely, took time to check things out without getting overwhelmed, and then settled in nicely under the table with a bone.

This is the goal—calm, confident behavior in real-life environments.
Nice work, Huey 👏

Welcome to the Retreat, Rosie 🐾

This tiny little rockstar is just 3 months old and weighs in at a whole 2 pounds—but don’t let her size fool you, she’s got a BIG personality.

This week we’re focusing on all the puppy essentials:
• Potty training
• Nipping & biting
• Learning what’s a toy… and what’s not (looking at you, furniture 😅)
• Building confidence and starting those foundational skills

She’s already off to a great start and even showing off a little fetch game 🎾

Stay tuned for Rosie’s progress this week—she’s small but mighty, and we’re excited to help her build the habits that set her (and her family) up for success.
