Horses are happy, weather’s perfect, and we’re soaking up a good Sunday. TeamDHEC will be running the cross country phase at the Rocking Horse Spring Horse Trials this morning.

Javier Gamboa and Legend Has It (Melvin 🐴 aka Thunder Chicken) earned a USEA Blue Ribbon Award for their 2025 season—placing in the top three at three different events at the Modified level.

It’s a great recognition of the consistency and hard work these two have put in all year. The kind of results that come from showing up every day and doing the work.

Watch Samantha Gamboa and the ever-charismatic Legend Has It, Melvin at the barn, take on their Training cross-country round! From the first stride out of the box to the final set of flags, they rode with confidence.

Sam and Melvin have been putting in the work, and it’s paying off. They tackled each question on the course with focus and heart. And yes, Sam made sure Melvin knew exactly how she felt about every fence along the way. Let’s just say her “encouragement” could be heard loud and clear across the entire course 😆
