Companion Animal Foundation

Companion Animal Foundation Our Community Adoption Center is a place for enjoyment and education. We love being able to provide this unique experience to our community!

Companion Animal Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization formed in 2002 in response to the high euthanasia rate of adoptable animals in Humboldt County. This is where we keep our healthy adoptable kittens (and pups) so that the public can help them socialize by visiting during open hours. The Community Adoption Center is currently open to the public from 12-4 on Wednesday, 1-

6 on Thursday, 12-4 on Friday and 11-3 on Saturday. Our hours change in the winter (usually in January) so please call us at 707-296-4629 to check that we are open before you come by. We often have puppies so if you’re looking to adopt a pup, please call ahead to check and see what we have. The puppies are available to visit during the same hours. We are more than happy to let adult visitors take the puppies on walks if they have time! Visiting is available to all ages, but anyone under 16 years of age needs to be accompanied by an adult guardian. All adult visitors need to provide a photo ID before entering the adoption room and please plan on leaving your photo ID with a staff person if you want to take our puppies for a walk.

Lovely gray and white kitty Grace hopes to find her new loving home.
She currently resides at Companion Animal Foundation community adoption center.
Grace is thought to be a young adult between 1 and 2 years old. In a calm environment Grace is quite snuggly and loving, welcoming pets on her velvety coat.
Grace gets overstimulated in our adoption center environment and is seeking a quiet home without young children (or kittens!!). She needs to be the only cat in the home and she is afraid of dogs.
Grace is spayed, up to date on vaccines, FIV/FELV negative, fully litter box trained, and will be microchipped before adoption. There is an adoption fee.
Please come meet her at Companion Animal Foundation at 3954 Jacobs Ave, just north of Eureka. Or contact CAF for more information at 707-296-4629 or [email protected].

A community member is looking for a new home for Bosco.
This wonderful senior minpin is looking for his forever home. Bosco is 11 or 12 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. He is a very sweet dog who loves all people and kids. This darling is happiest sitting beside his person on the couch overseeing whatever projects or tv shows you have going on. He is not into toys but loves chewy treats like smoked bones, pigs ears, and bully sticks.
He could likely adapt fine to a home with cats. He will sometimes chase them but has never been aggressive towards them and he does learn to not chase. Full disclosure, he is a top fan of kitty roca so the litter box will need to be out of his reach!
He is all bark and no bite around big dogs, but does need a home with no large dogs.
Boscoe has had a traumatic and tragic life so he has some quirks. He does not do well closed in a room without a person. He can be territorial until he is comfortable. He loves trash so no access to trash cans! Good news, he is receptive to training and is highly treat motivated.
He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on Heartguard medication, and microchipped. Bosco is house trained although because he is a senior with an old man bladder he requires frequent potty breaks.
His rehoming fee is $150.
Please contact Liz at 707 496-9623 or [email protected] for more information or to arrange a meet and greet. .

Besse has found a wonderful new home!
Meet Besse. This darling 12 year old chihuahua is looking for her new loving home. Her person went into memory care and Besse is now in a foster home. She is a mellow, sweet, loyal dog who is used to being with her human all the time. Besse loves to play with her little toys. She's not a barker (is she really a chihuahua?!). This couch potato likes to stay close and will sleep in her new guardian's bed! Bess has been fine with cats and other dogs. A home with mature kids would likely work for her; no young children please.
Besse is spayed, recently had a dental, labs, ear treatment, is up to date on vaccines and fully house trained. She is on a diet to get her to a healthier weight.
The minimum donation for her adoption is $200. Her bed and toys will come with her.
Besse is in a foster home. Please email [email protected] or text (707)616-6162 for more information or to arrange a meet and greet.

Meet Ms. Bindi.
This lovely tuxedo girl is urgently looking for her new home, or an interim foster. She is 1 1/2 years old. She is an affectionate and darling kitty. Bindi was adopted from our adoption center as a young kitten and her family love her deeply. However, the young children in her current home are not a good fit for her, so she needs a new home with older children or adults as soon as possible. She needs to be an indoor only cat.
Bindi is litter box trained, spayed, up to date on vaccines, FIV/FELV negative and just had a clean health check at the vet.
Bindi's rehoming fee is $125.

Here's Rocky, such an easy-going and friendly boy. This sweet six year old German shepherd/Rottweiler mix is awaiting his new furever family. He needs to have an active family who will help him slim down; at 100 pounds he is about 20 lbs. overweight.
Rocky has gotten along well with the other dogs in his foster home and has been fine with the cats there. He is a great family dog, enjoying the company of kids.
Rocky is neutered, up to date on vaccines, fully house trained, and will be microchipped before adoption. He is very cooperative for bath time!
The minimum donation for his adoption is $200-$250 sliding scale.
Rocky is currently in a foster home. Contact our adoption center at 707-296-4629 for more information or to set up a meet and greet.
Thank you.
