At Mayhem’s Home for Wayward Animals, we believe no pet should be surrendered—or suffer—because their family couldn’t afford basic vet care. That’s why we’re launching a fundraiser to expand our spay and neuter assistance fund and keep pets with the people who love them.

We’ve applied for a grant to cover 130 life-changing surgeries this year—but we need your help to meet the growing demand in our community. Every dollar donated helps us say “yes” to families who want to do the right thing but are struggling to afford it.

We’re raising $25,000 to help the pets no one else can reach—here’s how:

Long waitlists and limited funding have made it incredibly difficult to end the pet overpopulation crisis. It’s created a nonstop loop of emergency response, where crisis teams are stretched thin trying to stop a breeding cycle caused by lack of access—not lack of care.

To launch our next big step, we’re raising $25,000 to expand our spay and neuter program to serve more low-income families and domestic violence survivors.

Instead of focusing solely on the hardship and heartbreak, we’re committed to being part of the solution. By building a dedicated spay and neuter fund for our most vulnerable communities, we can reduce the need for constant crisis response and make real, lasting change.

Looking for a hiking buddy with endless energy and a heart of gold? Meet Douglas.

He’s 65 pounds of lovable chaos, goofy charm, and serious potential. At just 1 year old, Douglas is smart, eager to please, and loves having a job to do. He’s not a couch potato—he wants adventure, challenge, and a person who gets his vibe.

Douglas knows some obedience basics, but consistency is still a work in progress (can you blame him? He just turned 1 in January!). His ideal person loves fetch, walks, and working a tired brain as much as a tired body.

He was returned by his previous foster because apartment life just couldn’t keep up with his energy. It wasn’t a lack of love—it was a mismatch.

Here’s how fostering-to-adopt works: You’ll have 90 days to get to know him and see if your lifestyles match. We’ll cover food, medical care, and training help along the way.

When Shelly found a litter of abandoned kittens, she did what any animal lover would—she stepped in to help. Sadly, area rescues had no room and she was desperate for help by the time she found Mayhem's Home For Wayward Animals.

💔 The reality? Every year, thousands of kittens are born into homelessness simply because their mothers weren’t spayed in time. Without affordable spay/neuter access, this cycle never ends.

But sometimes I just need an expert opinion.... especially after an intense weekend of getting stuff done.

We drafted our first grant proposal and got a response guiding us to a program that we could access to bring a spay and neuter day to Eugene for low income families through the Jason Debus Heigel Foundation.

That is our mission this year. To host a Namaste Day with a local veterinarian clinic to give access to no cost spay and neuter appointments for low income families.

We aim to be the change in the community... Not just more noise! 2025 is for hitting the ground running and bringing the change we need.... Thanks for being part of the mission!
