Little Steve loves to carry around his stick. He's only 5 months old and needs to be neutered to be in a loving home as a pet. Our friends at will be going in with us to cover the cost of the neuter.
Thanks to donors for making this possible.

Prairie is a well loved, well cared for, spayed Chow mix 7 year old dog. She nipped at her caretaker's toddler (did not break skin or injure). Unfortunately, the ex-wife is threatening ending custody unless Prairie is rehomed.

The caretaker is from Oregon but currently living in Colorado. He is willing to transport Prairie to a new home in Oregon.

Dog shelters in Colorado say they euthanize dogs with any kind of bite history.

Toddlers and small children with any dog must be closely supervised, obviously. Small children are scary to many dogs.

Anyone looking for a great companion dog please contact Kit from Out to Pasture at [email protected] or text 503 756 8652.

Thanks for your help.

We were surprised to wake up and hear hen Hally crowing like a rooster. She had stopped laying eggs and became aggressive at her old home.

It turns out that hormonal changes from a damaged o***y can cause crowing in hens. Or even the absence of a rooster and the need to establish a pecking order.

The crowing eventually stopped, so it was probably just an environmental response.

Classic bait and switch! Charlotte was posted on Craigslist for free to anyone for any purpose. She had three days to find a home (or be killed) since the guy didn't want her. The ad showed a photo of a small, young pig when, in reality, she was older and very overweight.
(The Craigslist photo not available).

Luckily, two kind women agreed to take her in to save her life. They were not expecting a pig that large when the guy dropped her off. They weren't set up for a large pig in their backyard and had neighbors that didn't want Charlotte there.

We brought Charlotte to Out to Pasture, where she has been living happily with pig friends for six years now.
Second photo showing thinner Charlotte today.

The sad thing is that Charlotte had been well loved for years until her owner went into a nursing home. The son didn't want to keep Charlotte or make much of an effort to find her a new home.

Its so important to ensure that animal family members have someone kind and responsible lined up to help them in situations like this.

Baby Bobby is a bantam silkie mix rooster in need of a new home. Currently located in West Linn, where the city code prohibits roosters.

Bobby is a well loved pet and not for eating.

Eleven baby rabbits and four adult intact bunnies had nowhere to go, so we took them all in. All the rabbit rescues in the Portland area were full in May when a kind woman saved the litter and parents. Predators had been killing off litter after litter after someone dumped two intact adult bunnies a year ago outside of Portland.

The woman was considering giving the babies to a local pet store where they could have ended up being sold as snake food.

The adults have been spayed and neutered. The babies are now old enough to be sexed and separated to prevent more pregnancies.
All of them will be spayed and neutered at six months of age.

Our friends at will be working with us to get them vet care. We appreciate our donors for making it possible for these rabbits to have a chance at a better life.

Miss Piggy was rescued from slaughter at the last minute and now lives with people that love her. and Out to Pasture worked together to cover the cost of fencing and the spay yesterday at OSU.

We appreciated our donors and our friendship with Green Acres. Working cooperatively makes it possible to help more animals than either of us could do alone.

Like magic, our compost pile has turned into a giant pumpkin patch with plenty of pumpkins on the way. Besides being nutritious and full of fiber, pumpkin seeds are a natural dewormer for the pigs.

Thanks to everyone who dropped off pumpkins after Halloween last fall.

Why do so many pet pigs like Cubby end up at sanctuaries?
Reasons we've heard include code enforcement, lack of rentals allowing pigs, lack of boarding facilities for people who travel, job loss, foreclosures, evictions, caretaker illness or death.

Lifespan can be up 17 to 18 years, so pigs are a commitment. There just aren't enough sanctuaries to take in all the pigs needing rehoming.
