BEAT THE HEAT
Pavement hits 140°F when the air temp is 90. That's hot enough to burn paw pads in under a minute.

And here's what a lot of dog owners don't think about: most daycare and boarding facilities in San Diego still run outdoor play areas. Concrete runs, gravel yards, turf that holds heat. They'll tell you "we monitor the temperature" or "we have shade."

Not sure if your dog is double-coated? Here's a quick test:

Part the fur near their back or hindquarters. If you see a dense, soft undercoat beneath the longer topcoat — they're double-coated.

Common breeds: Golden Retrievers, Labs, Huskies, German Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, Corgis, and Bernese Mountain Dogs.

If your dog is on that list, a deshed is the summer move. Our groomers can handle a deshed, flea/tick check, and nail trim all in one visit.
