A big part of having a good dog is having a healthy one. If you choose to go to a breeder, knowing what is acceptable for the breed is super important.

Backyard breeders love to promote Merle coats and charge people more for them. Knowing which dogs should have the coat and the dangers involved with breeding 2 Merle dogs together is also important.

Make sure you’re doing your research and get a breed based on your lifestyle and not for looks.

What would you add?

Off leash dog with no recall!
Someone shouting “don’t worry, they’re friendly!”

Realizing you don’t have a p**p bag on the walk.
Over weight dogs-chunky is not cute on your dog.
The average family getting a herding breed.

“I don’t crate train”
Using lick mats instead of walking their dog.
“My dog doesn’t need exercise, they have a backyard”

A huge thank you to Nick Marsing Snow College and Bryan Moulton Snow College Counseling & Wellness Center for allowing Ginny and I to speak about animal assisted therapy today.

Being a therapy dog team is something I’m so passionate about. It such an amazing opportunity to see people receive the love and comfort that a dog can give. I love this work so much, but Ginny is the real star. She always knows what people need.

Ginny has added teacher to her list of titles and qualifications!
