After 44 incredible years of caring for animals and the people who love them, tomorrow marks the retirement of Dr. Deb Benner!

Dr. Benner earned her undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College before receiving her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout her distinguished career, she has touched the lives of countless pets and families, earning the trust, respect, and admiration of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

For many years, Dr. Benner has worked alongside all three of our veterinarians, sharing her knowledge, compassion, and unwavering dedication to veterinary medicine. She has been a joy to work with, a mentor to many, and one of our most highly requested doctors by clients who appreciate the kindness and expertise she brings to every appointment.

While we will miss seeing her at the clinic, we are so grateful for the years we have had the privilege of working with her and learning from her. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Benner on an extraordinary career and wishing her a happy, well-deserved retirement!

🦜 We had so much fun seeing Papaguie the African Senegal Parrot (better known as Papi!) today for a nail trim with Dr. Hoover!

Papi was a great patient and reminded us that birds need routine grooming care too. Just like dogs and cats, many pet birds benefit from regular nail trims and, in some cases, beak trims to help keep them comfortable, healthy, and able to go about their daily activities with ease.

We always love seeing our feathered friends, and Papi certainly brightened our day! 💚🐦

At Cumberland Veterinary Clinic, all three of our doctors are experienced in treating exotics—from rabbits and guinea pigs to reptiles, birds, ferrets, and more. These pets require specialized knowledge and handling, and we’re proud to be one of the few clinics in the area able to provide that level of care across our entire doctor team.
