Warning ⚠️ Long, post-convention ramblings ahead!
We are on our way back home from our 1st Convention! I’m very pleased with how my pigs placed 💕 they were all so naughty on the table though! 😅
*Celtic Caviary’s Pot Roast (Broken Sr. Boar) placed 3rd out of 23(!).
*Our broken senior sows Celtic Caviary’s Muffin and Sinead placed 3rd and 4th out of 11.
*And last but not least, Celtic Caviary’s Opossum was 2nd out of 8 broken intermediate sows!
What an interesting and (mostly) enjoyable experience! 😅 I have to say though - I was a little shocked by the behavior/attitude of a few grown adult exhibitors during judging. I’ve never witnessed anything quite like it in my 18 years showing cavies. This is a widely known and very obvious issue - I’m dumbfounded that it repeatedly goes unchecked. We all want to win and none of us are perfect (definitely including myself here) but my goodness, these are guinea pigs. This is supposed to be a FUN hobby. It was a reminder that it is imperative to teach my daughter to lose with grace, speak kindly of and to others, RESPECT the opinions of your judges (even when you don’t agree) and LISTEN to what they have to say - you might actually learn something 🤯. Using your losses as motivation to improve your cavies is a tough lesson, but a crucial one.
Anyways, on a positive and more important note - we did get to hangout with our wonderful friends, talk Teddies and laugh. 💕 I’m so lucky to have such genuinely kind, gracious people in my life.
Congratulations to LeeAnn Comstock on her BEST IN SHOW win with her beautiful Abyssinian and Dana Kolstad on her Reserve in Show placement with her very pretty silver solid teddy ✨Thank you to all the show staff/judges/volunteers behind the scenes for making convention possible. And most importantly, to my Mom for watching my 4 month old for hours on end while I did my thing! I literally would not have been able to do it without her 💕 if you have made it this far - thank you. I really appreciate your support of my page.
