“How do your dogs do with cats?”

Honestly? Absolutely amazing. 😂

Knox LOVES to play and snuggle with the cats out on the deck or in the yard. Now, does that mean we never have to tell him to calm down? Absolutely not. 😂 He can get overexcited and occasionally forget just how much bigger he is than them.

But guess what?

Even when Knox gets a little too rowdy, do you know who starts the playing the MAJORITY of the time? THE CATS. 😂

Having a herding breed — Mini American Shepherds, Mini Aussies, Standards, etc. — does not mean you can’t or shouldn’t have cats.

It comes down to several things:
🐾 The individual dog’s drive and temperament
🐱 The cat’s comfort level and confidence around dogs
🏡 Proper management and supervision
🎓 And, most importantly, how much time YOU put into training and teaching your dog that the cat is a friend — not something to chase.

Every dog is an individual, and not every herding dog will have the same relationship with cats. But with the right temperament, training, boundaries, and introductions, dogs and cats can absolutely become best friends. ❤️

Love being able to invest into our dogs and give them the best life possible. 💗

Our area has started getting a LOT busier with construction and workers coming in and out. Even though we’re a few miles out of town and technically on a dead-end road, we’ve noticed more and more people driving through—whether they’re working nearby, taking a drive, or simply out exploring.

With the road becoming busier, we’ve started feeling a little more nervous about our dogs having complete freedom outside when we aren’t able to keep as close of an eye on them.

Our dogs still get LOTS of free time to run, play, explore, and be dogs! But now they also have a safe, secure space where they can enjoy being outside when we’re not right there supervising or actively outside. 🐾

And we all know how much our little Mini Americans LOVE sunbathing ☀️ and lounging in the thick, fluffy snow ❄️—so this gives them even more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors while staying safe!

This is just the beginning, too—we plan on making their outdoor space even larger over time so they have even more room to run, play, and enjoy being dogs. 💗

Another little investment into our dogs and our program that we’re so excited about. 💗🐾
