After the Races' mission is to rehabilitate and rehome retiring Thoroughbred racehorses into suitable, long-term homes while promoting the versatility and usefulness of the breed beyond racing. After the Races has rehomed more than 970 horses to date and all due to the support of our community as well as fellow horse enthusiasts and professionals. After the Races is a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. After the Races is equipped to handle donations of all kinds, whether donations are made directly or through donor advised funds. We are also able to accept donations of appreciated securities and stocks, and in-kind donations. Everyone meet our newest arrival, Sweet Manhattan!

This little cutie (sticking at 15.1 hands) arrived from Aftercare Charles Town and is sound and ready to go! She is four years old and raced 24 times. More details can be found on our site.

Congratulations, Lisa, for bringing home another one! Lisa's friends picked up Honors Due for her yesterday. He's joining a few other ATR grads at Lisa's farm in Delaware as an all arounder and future lesson horse. He's such a good boy, we know he's going to do great!

This awesome guy is ready for his new home! Available for adoption in Fair Hill, MD!

SS Flat Out Fun is a 5 year old, 15.2 1/2 hand, bay gelding who came to us in partnership with Aftercare Charles Town. He raced 8 times without ever crossing the line first and is here to pursue new career options! This cute guy is by D'Funnybone and out of a Flatter mare.

Fun had a great intake evaluation with our vet who found him sound and in great shape for his next career without any limitations. He enjoyed plenty of letdown time, has begun his retraining, and is ready for adoption!

We've had a handful of rides on Fun now and while he started out a little unsure, he has quickly settled in to have some really nice rides. We're mostly working at the walk and trot right now and over ground poles. He is very eager to please and very smart!

He has been a very sweet boy to handle. He enjoys being groomed and has no vices. He's currently wearing front shoes and has no special needs. He's ready for an adopter who enjoys restarting an OTTB and should make for a very fun project.

Also, tall riders should not be discouraged from giving him a chance. He is built very wide through his shoulder and rib cage and will take up a surprising amount of leg!

Honors Due is overdue for finding a loving home! 🐎 Whether you're looking for a forever partner or your next horse for the Thoroughbred Makeover, this guy is worth a look.

This 4-year-old, 16.2 hand, bay gelding retired SOUND after 14 races, and he was so quiet and lovely to work with at the track that more than one person wanted to keep him as a pony horse. After getting to know him, we aren't the least bit surprised!

Honor has been evaluated by our vet, has stayed sound since arrival, and has no known limitations. His uphill build (which these photos don’t do justice!) makes him a natural fit for dressage or eventing, and he’s as game as they come. He’ll walk, trot, and canter through water, glide over ground poles, and work his heart out for you. He has been ridden alone and in company and is beyond ready to find his new partner!

On the ground, he’s sweet, easy to love, and handled by all our volunteers regardless of experience. He’s good for the farrier and vet and great in turnout with other horses.
