Good Habits Build Happy Dogs.

Dogs thrive when they have simple, healthy routines. Daily walks, short training sessions, regular playtime, and calm praise all help build confidence, trust, and better behavior over time. You do not need long or complicated sessions to make a difference. Just a few consistent minutes each day can go a long way.

Good habits help make everyday life easier too, from better listening on walks to more enjoyable time at home and in the yard. Small steps really do add up.

Safe Spring Dog Tips.

Spring is one of the best times of year to get outside with your dog, but a few simple precautions can make outdoor time even better. Bring fresh water on longer outings, check your dog’s paws after walks, and watch for hot pavement as temperatures start to rise. It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for ticks, burrs, and anything sharp hidden in the grass.

A quick before-and-after check can help your dog stay healthy, comfortable, and ready for the next adventure.

Loving Time Matters.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can give your dog is your time. A little play, praise, brushing, cuddling, or even a few quiet minutes together can strengthen your bond and help your dog feel safe, secure, and loved. Dogs do not need every moment to be exciting. They simply love being with their people.

Taking time each day to connect with your dog helps build trust and creates the kind of relationship every dog deserves. Slow down today and give your dog a little extra love. They will feel it.

MN Dog Owners: Spring is Here! (And so are the Ticks)

Minnesota is finally thawing out, but before you hit the trails at Minnehaha or take that first trip to the North Shore, there are a few 2026-specific things you need to know to keep your pup safe!

1. The "Early Thaw" Tick Warning 🕷️State entomologists have already flagged the first deer ticks of the season as early as March 9th this year. With the rollercoaster temps we’ve had, nymphal deer ticks (the tiny ones!) are expected to be out in high numbers this May and

June. Action: Check those ears and paws after EVERY walk, even if you’re just in your backyard. Make sure your flea/tick prevention is up to date now—don't wait for summer!

2. Watch the Puddles & Lakes 🌊With the early ice-out on many Minnesota lakes, the DNR is keeping a close eye on early blue-green algae blooms.

Safety Tip: If the water looks like spilled green paint or pea soup, keep your dog out! Also, discourage "puddle drinking" during the spring melt to avoid Leptospirosis, which can linger in wet soil and runoff.

3. Yard Hazards & "Winter Debris" 🧹As the snow disappears, it reveals more than just brown grass.

Check Your Fences: Winter frost heaves and heavy snow can weaken fence posts or create new gaps. Give your perimeter a "walk-through" before letting your dog roam off-leash.
Clean Up De-Icing Salt: Leftover sidewalk salt can irritate paws and is toxic if licked in large amounts. Give those paws a quick wipe when you come inside!

4. New for 2026: Microchip Check 📍With local rescues seeing high intake this spring, make sure your contact info is current. If your dog was imported from out of state recently, ensure their health certificates and records are updated as per the new 2026 Minnesota Board of Animal Health guidelines.

Let’s keep our 10,000 lakes (and 500,000+ dogs) safe this season! 🐕☀️

Why do dogs love lying in the sun so much?

Dogs naturally seek warmth and comfort, and a sunny spot provides both. The heat can help them relax, ease muscle tension, and make them feel calm and content. Sunlight can also support your dog’s overall well-being by helping regulate sleep patterns and boosting mood, which is one reason so many dogs seem perfectly happy stretched out in the yard or by a sunny window.

For older dogs, especially, time in the sun can feel soothing because the warmth may help with joint stiffness and sore muscles. Moderate sun exposure can also help keep certain damp areas of the coat and skin drier, which may reduce some skin issues.

At the same time, too much sun can be dangerous. Dogs can overheat, get sunburned, and in some cases face a higher risk of skin damage, especially if they have light-colored fur or thin coats. That is why it is important to ensure they always have access to shade and fresh water, and to limit sun exposure during the hottest part of the day.

The best times for safe sunbathing are usually early morning or later in the afternoon when temperatures are lower. Watch your dog closely and pay attention to signs like heavy panting, restlessness, or looking for shade, because those cues usually mean they have had enough.

Our dogs have a way of reminding us to slow down and enjoy simple moments. A little sunshine, fresh air, and time together can do a lot of good for both of you.

🌷 Spring is in the air, and your Pup is ready to RUN! 🐾

The snow is melting in Minnesota, the birds are chirping, and your dog has a serious case of the "zoomies." Is your yard ready for spring play?

At A&M In-Ground Pet Fencing, we know that spring is the best time for outdoor bonding, but it also brings distractions, from roaming wildlife to neighborhood joggers. Our professional in-ground fencing systems give your dog the freedom to explore every inch of the yard while giving you total peace of mind.

✅ Customized Boundaries: Keep them out of the fresh flower beds and away from the street.
✅ Safe Exploration: Let them soak up the sun without the restriction of a leash.
✅ Reliable Technology: Hidden, effective, and works with any yard size or shape!

Don’t spend your spring worrying about open gates or escape artists. Let’s get your furry friend the freedom they deserve!

The "Great Minnesota Grass Hunt" is officially ON!

Forget the Robin—we know it’s truly spring when our dogs find that one tiny patch of brown, crunchy grass in the middle of a melting snowbank and decide it’s the best thing they’ve ever smelled.

We call it "Spring Fever," but for them, it’s like the backyard just got a 5G upgrade. Whether they are doing the "full-body grass roll" or just staring intensely at a melting pile of slush, the excitement is real!

As the yard reveals itself, keep an eye out for "winter treasures" (old tennis balls, forgotten chew toys, and... other things 💩) that have been hiding under the snow. It’s a great weekend for a quick "yard sweep" before the real thaw begins!

What’s the weirdest thing your dog has "rediscovered" in the melting snow this week? Tell us (or post a photo of their 'Spring Fever' face) below! 👇
